Correction: Terry Glenn NOT out for the season, read the article below
Here’s the bad news my friends, Terry Glenn is out for two weeks or more. But that's better than what DallasCowboys.com had posted earlier.
DallasCowboys.com had a story up by Rob Phillips at this link posted at 5:38 today that said he is out for the year. They've since put up a new story timed at 5:58 today here, that says only two weeks, possibly more.
Update [2007-9-6 20:19:53 by Dave Halprin (Grizz)]: The old link now automatically jumps you to the new article. You can see it transition from the old story to the new one if you watch closely enough. 2nd update: the link to the original story is broken now. Was the Cowboys site hacked? What happened? [END UPDATE]
Sorry for the confusion.
Here's what it says now:
Three days before their regular-season opener, the Cowboys learned wide receiver Terry Glenn's problematic right knee likely will force him to miss two weeks and possibly more, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones said late Thursday afternoon.
Here's what it said earlier:
Three days before their regular-season opener, the Cowboys learned wide receiver Terry Glenn's problematic right knee will force him to miss the entire 2007 season, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones said late Thursday afternoon.
Jones said Glenn's knee injury is similar to that of former Cowboys center Al Johnson, who missed his entire rookie season in 2003 following microfracture surgery.
"You hate to see this with one of your top players and we need all of those we can beyond the field," Jones said. ""It's a real blow for Terry and for us."
So right now, he's out for two weeks or more. Man they scared the crap out of me with that original story. Sorry to freak you out.
In any case, it's a bummer. TNT is on hold. Hello Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd. I'll have more later on this.
Hat tip to Burt-D and Deke for posting these stories.

Wow that sucks
Hey grizz, I was in the process of posting this diary but it said I had an error. It doesn't matter, I am in total shock right now and may have to hit the bottle.

I want to know
Is it for two weeks or more like DC.com is saying, or is it for the entire season as quoted by JJ???? There seems to be contradicting reports on this.
WHAT IS IT??????????????????????

See above
They posted a story at 5:38 that said for the season. They posted a story at 5:58 that says two weeks. How they got this messed up I don't know.

I think this is an evolving situation
Probably want to wait and have some more tests done when the swelling go down and evaluate the injury again, but either way, I dont think this looks good at all. Clearly, Terry's having more issues other than the cyst that was removed..

horrible news
we are really going to miss glenn as a deep threat. It may seem a little early to be asking this question but with the season opener a few days away who is going to step up now? The pundits have said that Crayton could easily be a number 2 reciever anywhere else in the league, butI always thought of as more of an across the middle guy. Who is going to stretch the field? Maybe this is Sam Hurd's big shot. Thoughts?

I saw this on dallascowboys.com about 35 minutes ago. wasnt sure what to think because of the times. However i dont see how jerry would be misquoted so i think there site is probably wrong with the posted times

I'm sure
once they computer geeks over at DC.com go over there notes and voice recordings from the news release, hopefully they will have everything straitened out over there.
As for TG, I'm certain they will reevaluate after the swelling goes down and get a 360 degree view of everything that is going on in that knee.
Regardless if TG is done for the season, this will put a damper in our season offensively. But it will give us an extended look at Hurd and Austin and possibley some Stanback to see if we have to pick up a future starter next offseason

the youngsters will have to step up
just like Reeves and Spencer will have to do on defense.

Don't know about Glenn
1st he's doing fine (yesterday)
then he's out for the season
now it's 2 weeks (unexplained how they arrived at that time frame.)
At this point, nothing would surprise me.
I have total confidence in TO, Crayton, and Hurd but who will be the deep burner??? Austin, Stanback maybe?

what about T.O., duh?
I can't beleive you guys don't think T.O. is a deep burner, he can out run any CB in the league.

No, he's not
He has a another gear after he catches the ball, but he does much better running those crossing routes.
Plus he'll be double covered on every play, Glenn was going to be able to run those hitch and go's on play action, we need someone like that. I think Austin could do it, but I guess we'll find out if he's the real deal or not.

Crayton and Hurd
can run those as well, don't kid yourself. Actually, all of our receivers can beat one on one coverage.
T.O. is the key, if he goes down, then we're in trouble. Tom, he can blow by any cb in the league and you'll witness it many times this season.

I agree
I think we will get to see more of Stanback than originally anticipated. Not saying he will start, but I think he will definately be more of a factor now that Terry is out for awhile.
I really want to see what this kid can do in a real game.

Stanback is nowhere ready to play
wide receievr, he's raw, cant even run a decent route, dont count on him being the answer this year.
by Deke on Sep 7, 2007 4:23 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Stanback seems smart and dedicated and FAST
I wouldn't count on him early in the season, but down the stretch run, I could definitely see him contributing. Possibly punt returner and deep threat.
He ran a sweet route for a TD catch from Johnson in one preseason game.

I think he's going to
see more action because the more comfortable he gets, the more he can contribute.
