wade phillips
lets see how he adjusts during the half
1st half defense was pretty sad
No real improvement
over last year's team. No pass rush and no secondary.
It is just depressing because I watched two premier defenses play this afternoon: Chicago and San Diego. I realize now we aren't even in the same universe as those two teams. We have so far to go.
I totally agree
We play the bears in two weeks, that very well could be a very very ugly game for us
Not quite ...
Unless I'm mistaken (and I'm not), their QB is still Rex Grossman. I'm not worried.

I agree that our defense does not compare to
SD or the Bears right now, but the Bears offense is still no prize.

No Newman
makes a big difference. I think Wade is limited because of Newman not being in there. We can be as good

Again, I'll say it ...
Look for T.O. to be targeted early and often next half. I bet he's pissed.
I went to get some milk on the break . . .
And there were pictures of TO, Spears, Canty, Spencer and other various Cowboys on the carton! That was weird.. . .

I want a Corner with Cleveland's pick
I don't care if Jesus Christ himself declares for the draft... I want a bleeding corner!!!
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Sep 9, 2007 8:57 PM CDT reply actions
let them take TO out of the game and keep going
to Witten for all I care. I would rather see sustained drives with this defense. The only problem with that is that TO will start to whine and be "distracting".
very poor 1st half
defense did not look any different. t.o. wasnt involved at all.

Blitzing
We have to be the worst blitzing team ever...our blitz never gets there. I'm amazed that we can't blitz and get to the QB
by shaq48 on Sep 9, 2007 9:04 PM CDT reply actions
I told everyone that our offense
would have to win games early on without Ellis and Newman, and now Fergy.
Roy Williams
get roy williams out of there on pasiing downs,he couldnt cover my grandfather on deep routes
by kelc317 on Sep 9, 2007 9:05 PM CDT reply actions
Nice job Crayton
and Romo
we have a T.O. sighting
Yay!
Nice hands, Owens. Keep him happy, keep him productive.
With the D lackluster, we need all our weapons oiled and ready.
Incredible!!! T.O.
ok enuff celebrating
act like you've done it b4
it just goes to show how bad NY is.
We are not playing well as a whole, but still dominating. Now we'll see if any adjustments were made for the D at halftime.
hell of a play by T.O
Did we recover it???
It's about time they got TO involved, but...
I loved the balance on that drive with Red Ball calling more effective run plays to set up the pass.
FINALLY!
A sack. Thank you ... can I have another?
The Rat!!
Reeves is killing me
did spears just try to take credit for ratliff's
sack.
Ratliff is a bright point tonight.
Roy did nothing on the last blitz.
the amazing thing is how much offense we got in h
with no completions to wr's
Now Henry
Come on corners!
They're both killing me.

This is just a joke
Even Rex Grossman will pick us apart.
I don't know what to say. We cannot stop teams that want to throw on us.
Listen
Giants fans think they have played well, Cowboys fans are not happy with them and what is the score? Get off this blog if your not with the Cowboys because we are worried about bigger things
by nomatterwhat on Sep 9, 2007 9:20 PM CDT reply actions
That's in your face ...
Reeves definitely saved that TD.
by no1cowboysfan on Sep 9, 2007 9:23 PM CDT up reply actions
Was Burress
Just looking for a flag? It deflected off his hands ... what's his angle?
OK Reeves
I like you again.
reeves had made some mistakes - but for his
first start, I have seen some good things as well.
Ol Jacque does look like he's gaining a lil more
confidence on those last two breakups.
Reeves needs to get more physical and bump...
Burress before he gets off the LOS
Burress might be inducted in HOF tonight
he's well on his way to 200 yards....our corners are making him look all-pro....
where can i order a jaques reeves jersey?
and do they accept returns?
Peyton
is there anything this guy WONT endorse...sheesh it is ridiculous.
Overall - Romo has looked a little shaky. I hope
that last series turns things around
I don't get it either
Spears can't get there. Spencer is still learning the ropes.
We need the Greg Ellis of early last season.
you guys are going to have to accept
our defense is not going to look good until we get healthy, until then Tony and the O will win for us.
I won't accept that
not with all the money and first round draft picks we have put into this defense.
No
If we had a pass rush, our secondary could get a break.
Spears isn't hurt. Hatcher isn't hurt. Carpenter isn't hurt.
These guys need to play like the players they are supposed to be.
i hate the new Manning commercial - whats up with
the dolphins?????
I love the merriman / S Jackson commercial. I'd rather it be ware and S Jackson in a cowboys uni though
Romo just got my respect...
...by tucking it in and taking the sac instead of pulling a Favre
Why can't we get any consistent...
big yardage plays on first down?
To me that series was lost on the first down call.
We love you McBriar ...
And nice play by Romo ... just take the sack.
what a difference a year makes....
I think he's starting to learn...
from last year to take better care of the ball -- especially when there's nothing there.
C'mon "D," gotta get us the ball back... or create a turnover & score a TD!!!
Spencer has arrived at the game
Recognize the Strength & Speed of Spencer!
I love Witten
Nice run MB3
nice block T.O.
The Romo!
ROMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
That wasn't good
Canty wakes up
The rookie WR from USC heard footsteps!
that was stupid
Ugh,
man I hate that rule.
i don't know if you noticed - but Hamlin was
directing the guys in the secondary - nice coverage, thats what we brought him in for.
Henry should NEVER ever spike a ball - what has he done?
Mex-I-Cans I have a fantasy trade for you

were going to have to score 40 or more to win
injury to Tynes
Tynes makes a career out of helping Dallas out ... we might not have had a Seattle bobble at all last season if Tynes hadn't helped in KC.
Sour grapes
What a f***er that Wilson is. B*tch move.
by no1cowboysfan on Sep 9, 2007 9:58 PM CDT up reply actions
64%, 296 yds, 3 TDs - did I really take Bulger
ahead of him in FF
Sorry to brag but I took him in my draft ahead
of some of the top rated guys and I am pretty pleased right now.
Also have TO and LT :)
by theavner on Sep 9, 2007 10:03 PM CDT up reply actions
Romo to Owens
I like that!
One nice stop here and one more score and the game is ours.
I hope I didn't just jinx us.
When I said this would be a long night
I meant for them
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Sep 9, 2007 9:57 PM CDT reply actions
If we can hammer out the
kinks on defense we will be all right. Our offense is unstoppable
by Cowboys81 on Sep 9, 2007 9:57 PM CDT reply actions
Yeah
Giants fan must be complaining about their secondary too. We have had our way with them more than they have with us.
Giants defense isn't a good defense
wait till the bears game, you wont see this offense move the ball like tonight
Ive scared my girlfriend
With all my jumping around.
I told her it would be crazy.
That popcorn tastes good right now. Thanks TO!!!
Now is not the time
to be lackadaisical. defense is going back to the Swiss Cheese style of pass coverage.
Newman is out
that is limiting what we can do
by Burt D @ Blogging The Boys on Sep 9, 2007 10:05 PM CDT up reply actions
the giants donthave the first round socalled
talent we are suppose to have, and Mr Fix it was suppose to fix our problems from last year, we are nowhere close to being any better.
Newman
When Newman Comes back he shuts down that side and you also dont need safety help up top that will change the defense for the better. First game is always tough The D will come around
by nomatterwhat on Sep 9, 2007 10:08 PM CDT reply actions
really terrible performance by the defense.
they are not doing anything right. I dont buy the injury excuse either.
by nerfinator39 on Sep 9, 2007 10:10 PM CDT reply actions
O Dear God
..........
Ooooooohhhhh...
Can we PLEASE stop trying to lose this game?
same tired
defense with a little more movement. unreal.....
by Cowboys81 on Sep 9, 2007 10:21 PM CDT up reply actions
ok Romo needs a drive right here
to redeem himself
was it terry
who said plaxico burress was nothing special?
i fear this guy
Burress Burress Burress...
Why do we go through this with one receiver on every team?
Gee, can't wait to face Santana Moss next...

TT
Thanks for the boost, Tyson. We love you at SJSU.

Why is MB3 not in there now?
ROMO to HURD - YES!!!!!!
Shows what Romo is made of!!!
Ya Huuuuuuuuuuuuurd?
YES!
SAM HURD!!!!!
You Beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bet someone a dollar
that the Giants put up another TD before this one is over, though...
by Pete on Sep 9, 2007 10:25 PM CDT reply actions
why is Barber not in the game.....
Way to go Sam.
Red Ball's Outstanding Debut!!!
the Hefty Lefty
is gonna try and get them into the game
Wait, wha hoppen?
I was reading this site - why is Eli out?
Ok, bruised right shoulder. Thanks Al.
by Pete on Sep 9, 2007 10:27 PM CDT reply actions
what an idiot!!!!
he's almost a 300 pounder
I am sorry - as much as I would like
to root for Roy - I CAN'T.
I agree that he should come out in passing situations. I've seen it too often the last 3 years. Hes a good guy and great against the run. Use his strengths then hide his weaknesses - get him off the field!!!!!
Eh
I'm a big fan of Roy still, and always will. He may not be the best coverage safety, but strong safeties get lit up all the time. And what he does do well, he does very well. He'll still get my pro bowl vote. And I'm still wearing his jersey right now.
by no1cowboysfan on Sep 9, 2007 10:35 PM CDT up reply actions
one more gripe.......
we run Julius early to save Barber for the second half - except we hardly play him in the 2nd half - unbelievable.
This kind of win makes you feel a little hollow.
what
were you watching. JJ played sub par and Barber was very good.
It wasn't even close.
by Cowboys81 on Sep 9, 2007 10:43 PM CDT up reply actions
This is the kind of win...
that Tuna would still go ballistic on his players afterwards...
by Pete on Sep 9, 2007 10:36 PM CDT up reply actions
Last time the Cowboys scored 45 or more was...
in week 8 of the 2000 season against Arizona. Dallas 48, Arizona 7. I LOVE me some Red Ball!
How ironic...
is it that Madden is calling this game, because I swear this reminds me of a Madden '08 match I played a few weeks ago.
All TD's, no D whatsoever. :-)
Only I was actually throwing to TO.
by Pete on Sep 9, 2007 10:38 PM CDT reply actions
that throw from Romo to Hurd
was a thing of beauty.
as was the giants player blowing up the wedge.
rare you see a team put up 45 pts without a ST or defensive score.
weird win but i will take it.
given what the offense and defense did, it feels like what i would have expected had we hired norv
Hey - a win is a win.
Grizz, I would like to officially make a motion to change the name of the team from D-allas Cowboys to the O-allas Cowboys.
Anbody second that motion?
As long as we have Romo
I'm not really worried too much about our D, we're going to score a bunch of points this season.
How can you say that Terry.
You know that defense wins titles. Thats an assinine comment. I don't want to turn into a team that has to score 30+ points a game.
the Colts last year
disqualifies that as an asinine comment
and our D will be ok, jesus
I hope it is - but the colts won when their
D showed up in the playoffs. I think we will be OK once we get healthy - but don't say that we shouldn't worry about the D because our offense will carry us. Worry - hope it will get better - and hope we can win because we are performing all the way around.
our D will be ok
im not worried about anything......we coulda scored 50 tonight and Newman is injured, which doesnt allow Wade to do what he usually does.....we knew that before the game started......how is anybody surprised?????
knocking Jacobs out of the game did not do a
stinking thing. Their no-name backup torched us for 89.
OK - grasp for straws stat guy.
Make that...
just Manning - IIRC they kept coming even when Jacobs went out.
by Pete on Sep 9, 2007 10:51 PM CDT reply actions
OK Lee - your right. Our defense was great after
Jacobs went out. Keep on believing that and make your hypothetical arguments.
There is also the issue of
losing Fergi in the middle. Kind of opened things up a bit for the Giants. No where have I said our defense was great. It was good enough to win this game and must get better to win any more.
I am in agreement there - we are all on the same
team here - eh.
Defense played pretty awful tonight....
The defense was terrible... If we can score 45 points in every game, we might have a chance -- but if the D doesn't tighten up, we're going to lose a lot more often than we'll win.
- Hakrjak
We're gonna be o.k.!
Offense looked good... Romo was awesome.... D will be better when we get Newman and Ellis back next week. Looks like we can live without Terry Glenn. We'll see!
Ellis wont be back next week
and Newman wont be healthy this year with that injury, it will be irrated very week and he shouldn't even play next week. What about Ferguson with an elbow injury that didn't look to good.
I think you are right -
now the question is.... do we sit Henry out and start Reeves opposite Newman. It would be a good opponent to get some game time with.
I do believe that we will be better based on having those guys back. Spencer got better as the night went on too.
you have got to love the 4 headed receiving
monster of Witten, Owens, Crayton, and Hurd.
Romo was awesome - maybe now they will quit reshowing the Seattle clips - jeez.
