wade phillips
lets see how he adjusts during the half
1st half defense was pretty sad
by bkcowboy on Sep 9, 2007 8:55 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
No real improvement
over last year's team. No pass rush and no secondary.
It is just depressing because I watched two premier defenses play this afternoon: Chicago and San Diego. I realize now we aren't even in the same universe as those two teams. We have so far to go.
by Philosopher on Sep 9, 2007 8:57 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I totally agree
We play the bears in two weeks, that very well could be a very very ugly game for us
by Deke on Sep 9, 2007 8:58 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Not quite ...
Unless I'm mistaken (and I'm not), their QB is still Rex Grossman. I'm not worried.
by no1cowboysfan on Sep 9, 2007 8:59 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree that our defense does not compare to
SD or the Bears right now, but the Bears offense is still no prize.
by theavner on Sep 9, 2007 8:59 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
No Newman
makes a big difference. I think Wade is limited because of Newman not being in there. We can be as good
by Cowboys81 on Sep 9, 2007 9:01 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
our defense isn't even in the same sentence
as the bears, they are dominant.
by Deke on Sep 9, 2007 9:02 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Again, I'll say it ...
Look for T.O. to be targeted early and often next half. I bet he's pissed.
by no1cowboysfan on Sep 9, 2007 8:57 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I went to get some milk on the break . . .
And there were pictures of TO, Spears, Canty, Spencer and other various Cowboys on the carton! That was weird.. . .

I want a Corner with Cleveland's pick
I don't care if Jesus Christ himself declares for the draft... I want a bleeding corner!!!
by Burt D on Sep 9, 2007 8:57 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
let them take TO out of the game and keep going
to Witten for all I care. I would rather see sustained drives with this defense. The only problem with that is that TO will start to whine and be "distracting".

very poor 1st half
defense did not look any different. t.o. wasnt involved at all.

Blitzing
We have to be the worst blitzing team ever...our blitz never gets there. I'm amazed that we can't blitz and get to the QB
by shaq48 on Sep 9, 2007 9:04 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I told everyone that our offense
would have to win games early on without Ellis and Newman, and now Fergy.

Roy Williams
get roy williams out of there on pasiing downs,he couldnt cover my grandfather on deep routes

Nice hands, Owens. Keep him happy, keep him productive.
With the D lackluster, we need all our weapons oiled and ready.

it just goes to show how bad NY is.
We are not playing well as a whole, but still dominating. Now we'll see if any adjustments were made for the D at halftime.
by ibleed blue on Sep 9, 2007 9:12 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Dominating!!!
the Giants have 219 total yards for the half, what game are you watching

It's about time they got TO involved, but...
I loved the balance on that drive with Red Ball calling more effective run plays to set up the pass.

Eli Manning is picking us apart

Even Rex Grossman will pick us apart.
I don't know what to say. We cannot stop teams that want to throw on us.

That's in your face ...
Reeves definitely saved that TD.
by no1cowboysfan on Sep 9, 2007 9:23 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah
Next two series he will give up a long pass play and a TD.
What he gives, he takes away.

Burress before he gets off the LOS

yeah thats why his qb rating is well over 100
by Terry on Sep 9, 2007 9:27 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don't get it either
Spears can't get there. Spencer is still learning the ropes.
We need the Greg Ellis of early last season.

you guys are going to have to accept
our defense is not going to look good until we get healthy, until then Tony and the O will win for us.
by Terry on Sep 9, 2007 9:25 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I won't accept that
not with all the money and first round draft picks we have put into this defense.
by Philosopher on Sep 9, 2007 9:26 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
No
If we had a pass rush, our secondary could get a break.
Spears isn't hurt. Hatcher isn't hurt. Carpenter isn't hurt.
These guys need to play like the players they are supposed to be.

I agree that he should come out in passing situations. I've seen it too often the last 3 years. Hes a good guy and great against the run. Use his strengths then hide his weaknesses - get him off the field!!!!!

I'm a big fan of Roy still, and always will. He may not be the best coverage safety, but strong safeties get lit up all the time. And what he does do well, he does very well. He'll still get my pro bowl vote. And I'm still wearing his jersey right now.

is it that Madden is calling this game, because I swear this reminds me of a Madden '08 match I played a few weeks ago.
All TD's, no D whatsoever. :-)
Only I was actually throwing to TO.

Breathing again
Nice win Cowboys. Now on to defense practice!

our defense gave up over 400 yards
of offense, back to the drawing board Mr Fix it.
by Deke on Sep 9, 2007 10:41 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
it was really humid out there
I don't think its a real indication of either D
by Terry on Sep 9, 2007 10:47 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
that throw from Romo to Hurd
was a thing of beauty.
as was the giants player blowing up the wedge.
rare you see a team put up 45 pts without a ST or defensive score.
weird win but i will take it.
given what the offense and defense did, it feels like what i would have expected had we hired norv

Hey - a win is a win.
Grizz, I would like to officially make a motion to change the name of the team from D-allas Cowboys to the O-allas Cowboys.
Anbody second that motion?

As long as we have Romo
I'm not really worried too much about our D, we're going to score a bunch of points this season.
by Terry on Sep 9, 2007 10:46 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
How can you say that Terry.
You know that defense wins titles. Thats an assinine comment. I don't want to turn into a team that has to score 30+ points a game.

what did he call tonight????
by ibleed blue on Sep 9, 2007 10:51 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Terry's a homer with rose colored glasses
what would you expect
by Deke on Sep 9, 2007 10:50 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
and Deke is a hater
with dark shaded glasses because he can't see the obvious.
by Terry on Sep 10, 2007 9:53 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
the Colts last year
disqualifies that as an asinine comment
and our D will be ok, jesus

I hope it is - but the colts won when their
D showed up in the playoffs. I think we will be OK once we get healthy - but don't say that we shouldn't worry about the D because our offense will carry us. Worry - hope it will get better - and hope we can win because we are performing all the way around.

our D will be ok
im not worried about anything......we coulda scored 50 tonight and Newman is injured, which doesnt allow Wade to do what he usually does.....we knew that before the game started......how is anybody surprised?????

The Giants
had a really good offense - until we knocked Jacobs and Manning out of the game.
by lee3022 on Sep 9, 2007 10:49 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
knocking Jacobs out of the game did not do a
stinking thing. Their no-name backup torched us for 89.
by ibleed blue on Sep 9, 2007 10:50 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
It might have saved
an injury to one of our guys trying to tackle the beast.
by lee3022 on Sep 9, 2007 10:51 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
OK - grasp for straws stat guy.
by ibleed blue on Sep 9, 2007 10:53 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Make that...
just Manning - IIRC they kept coming even when Jacobs went out.
by Pete on Sep 9, 2007 10:51 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Do you think Lorenzen
would be the runner at the end needing only 3 yards if Jacobs had been in?
by lee3022 on Sep 9, 2007 10:54 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
OK Lee - your right. Our defense was great after
Jacobs went out. Keep on believing that and make your hypothetical arguments.
by ibleed blue on Sep 9, 2007 10:56 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
There is also the issue of
losing Fergi in the middle. Kind of opened things up a bit for the Giants. No where have I said our defense was great. It was good enough to win this game and must get better to win any more.
by lee3022 on Sep 9, 2007 11:43 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I am in agreement there - we are all on the same
team here - eh.

Defense played pretty awful tonight....
The defense was terrible... If we can score 45 points in every game, we might have a chance -- but if the D doesn't tighten up, we're going to lose a lot more often than we'll win.

We're gonna be o.k.!
Offense looked good... Romo was awesome.... D will be better when we get Newman and Ellis back next week. Looks like we can live without Terry Glenn. We'll see!
by youthguru on Sep 9, 2007 10:57 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Ellis wont be back next week
and Newman wont be healthy this year with that injury, it will be irrated very week and he shouldn't even play next week. What about Ferguson with an elbow injury that didn't look to good.
by Deke on Sep 9, 2007 11:00 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think you are right -
now the question is.... do we sit Henry out and start Reeves opposite Newman. It would be a good opponent to get some game time with.
I do believe that we will be better based on having those guys back. Spencer got better as the night went on too.

you have got to love the 4 headed receiving
monster of Witten, Owens, Crayton, and Hurd.
Romo was awesome - maybe now they will quit reshowing the Seattle clips - jeez.
