Cowboys random articles
Three Cowboys made the All-Pro team and two Cowboys made the second team.
For the first time since 2003, the Cowboys were represented on the Associated Press All-Pro team.
Wide receiver Terrell Owens, tight end Jason Witten and outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware were named to the All-Pro team Wednesday.
Offensive guard Leonard Davis and offensive tackle Flozell Adams were second-team selections.
Congrats to those Cowboys. And hat tip to CTBoy for posting it in a diary.
Update [2008-1-10 12:3:29 by Dave Halprin (Grizz)]: Updating the "All-Pro" theme, Dr. Z has his All-Pro list and he likes the Cowboys. Jason Witten, Flozell Adams, DeMarcus Ware, and Terence Newman made his list. Adams made the list partly because he shut down Osi twice. Shades of this weekend? But I have to say, some of Dr. Z’s other picks are kinda crazy.

Here’s your Romo vs. the media update. Romo’s answers to the media yesterday can be found, here. JJT gives an impassioned defense of Romo, here. Todd Archer is more matter-of-fact, here. And Brad Sham decided it was time for DC.com to jokingly join the circus.
I saw a lot of clips of Romo yesterday taking questions and I did notice one thing, he seemed a little perturbed with the media. He had just a bit of an edge when discussing his private life. I’m hoping this translates into a "stick it to everybody" attitude on Sunday and he absolutely shreds the Giants defense.

But this guy over at SI.com is more intent on shredding Romo. He’s put together a collection of stats that say Romo folds down the stretch of the past two seasons and that he is not a big-game player.
So far in his career, Romo has had six truly bad games, which we'll define by a passer rating under 60. Five of those games have come in his eight December starts.
[snip]
The numbers bear this out: Romo has been sacked just 25 times in 19 career starts from September through November (1.3 per game), but 22 times in nine games the rest of the season (2.4 per game).
No quarterback likes to get hit, but Romo dislikes it more than most. And when teams are able to reach him -- no easy task, because the Cowboys' offensive line is awfully good -- it affects Romo more than most quarterbacks. He rushes throws, gets skittish in the pocket, makes mistakes. Costly ones.
There’s a lot more Romo-bashing in the article if you care to read it.

Cowboys obsession – love it. Over at Sportsline.com they have four hot topics about the playoffs. In three of the four, they mostly talk about the Giants/Cowboys game. And they’re mostly hating on the Cowboys. The better we get, the more they hate us!

All of America hates Dallas
All the so called experts all say that Dallas will lose to NYG this weekend b/c of the way they have played down the stretch and the fact that NYG is on such a roll.... I'm not buyin it

Somebody explain to me
how winning one wild card game qualifies as being on a roll?? I don't get it. The Giants lost 3 of the last 4 regular season games and went 4-4 the second half of the season. Please, anyone, how is that being on a roll??

B/c
Of how well they played vs New England....

but they lost the game
so playing well against the Pats, even though they lost and beating an average Bucs team qualifies as being on a roll?
That just doesn't make that much sense to me.

On top of that
didn't Eli throw a pick in the 4th quarter to help wrap up that loss? Read anything on Eli now and it's all about how hot he is. After 1 game?
Like they say, momentum is all about the next game.

How's that?

I browsed the article
I cannot take that article seriously, it is comparing Romo in a way I had not seen before. The media's need and the fans need to have stories on a almost daily basis is part of the reason we see and article like this. It is a throw it against the wall and see what sticks approach. I agree with Grizz, the more they hate us it just translates into how good a team the boys are. Remember this is also a young team, it has a good core but not a veteran one. So the setbacks they suffered this season are really not suprising, but this is not last year's team. The radio show I listen to has a handicapper on every thursday (Brandon Lang). I remember that he had picked against dallas both times during the season and has finally learned his lesson. He said that he had been burned by Eli too many times and by the team in general, dallas covered both times and he expects them to cover again. Unlike the mediots who will not acknowledge the fact that wade is not fooling anybody about TO, he believes that TO is "playing possum".

Remember this,
No matter how well dallas plays this weekend, Seattle or GB will be the new "hot" team next week. Mark my words, it is a formula that the mediots feel is successful. Why, I do not know, but they have shown a pattern of going against dallas is the right way to go. Remember there is no consequence if they have a terrible record making picks, they are not handicappers they are talking heads that are in it for ratings. They value the entertainment more than reporting the actual facts. They love the what if scenarios and ignore what is real, the more we watch their BS shows they will not change a thing. If we do not like what they have to say then just change the channel. I will admit I am unable to follow my own advice, but I just do what romo does when I hear this stuff, smile and laugh at it. In fact I recommend that we all try to follow romo's example, think of it as a big joke and focus on what really matters, the game on sunday.

The page hits on ESPN.com
are through the roof this week. They know the Cowboys ellicit passion, good or bad, in the public and are milking it for all it is worth. Romo must know this too because in his interview, Ed Werder asked him if he was mad about not getting the benefit of the doubt in preparing for this game and romo said something along the lines of "I know how I prepare so I can sleep at night but I bet you can't sleep at night with that haircut."
Ouch.
Early prediction - TO plays and the cowboys win
31-24.

Did he really say that to Werder?!?
Holy crap - I just laughed out loud - that was awesome!

My advice to you is
To start drinking heavily.
OK, not really, but if you want to maintain your sanity this week, just ignore the mass media.
I'm on a self imposed media blackout, because it's too ridiculous to get upset when these sock puppets pick the Gints to upset the Cowboys for the reasons they come up with. You'd think Skippy Clueless is feeding them all this BS. I can't wait until Sunday when all the talking heads have to eat crow.

I am struck
by how utterly stupid most of the questions from the press have been.
Wade's tone in fielding the Romo-in-Mexico questions hinted "It's none of my business and none of yours either."
I was one of the fans who whined about Jessica on the Jumbotron during the Eagles game as contributing to the loss. My bad.
The Mexico trip, to me, is way different. Tony was trying to get away and relax with friends (including teammates), stay off his feet and clear his mind of football for a few hours (per the coach's advice). The so-called "sports media" has lapsed into the "gossip media" frenzy. Disgusting.
I look for Romo's best game on Sunday.
