2008 Draft Picks Set
With the Giants win over Green Bay, the Cowboys second 1st round pick moves up to pick #28. Remember that there are only 31 picks in the first round this year, due to New England getting caught cheating.
The draft format changes this year. Day 1 will only be rounds 1 and 2. Day 2 will be rounds 3 through 7.
Assuming no trades before the draft, the first day picks will be:
Round 1
Pick 22
Pick 28
Round 2
Pick 30 (#61 overall)
Assuming their are no compensatory picks awarded within the first 3 rounds then:
Round 3
Pick 29 (#92 overall)

UT WR Limas Sweed would be a steal.
If Limas Sweed drops because of his injury, getting him with a #2 or a #3 would be a steal. He's tall and fast and has a big upside.

Not happening
Limas will go in the first round. I've seen him projected as high as #11 overall.
I love the guy, but he's simply not going to be there.
really?? I actually think he's going to fall
into the 2nd or 3rd rd because of his lack of speed and explosion. If he runs a good 40 at the combine or on his pro day, maybe he will be a 1st rounder, but I don't see it right now.
Sweed
Sweed has a very high bust potential, IMO. I think his speed is very questionable. I do not think he will be able to get seperation in the NFL. I will puke if the Cowboys pick him.

WR in the 1st
I hope you're right. They seldom produce immediately and I'm more interested in winning now than developing a player for 2012.
the only WR I've seen in most mock drafts 1st rds
is DeSean Jackson from Cal. I'd rather take a stud CB or RB.
this one says Kelly
boy I would be pissed I want a CB
This pick is from Cleveland. I had a corner going here earlier, but with all of the top-tier guys off the board, Malcolm Kelly becomes the most obvious option. With Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn nearing retirement, and Patrick Crayton doing everything in his power to knock his own team out of the playoffs, Dallas needs help at wide out.

they have a four round mock up already
1a Kelly
1b Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas
2 DeJuan Tribble, CB, BC he's to short 5-9
3 Trae Williams, CB, South Florida- he would do
4 Duane Brown, OT, Virginia Tech

Cowboys are eying up McKelvin
StarTelegram Blog is reporting that our head scout, Tom Ciscowski, was seen checking out the South cornerbacks at the Senior Bowl practices.
Spotted Cowboys scout Tom Ciskowski, now the lead man after Jeff Ireland is in Miami, keeping a close eye on the South cornerbacks. That position expects to be one of the Cowboys' draft needs.
Leodis McKelvin, a CB form Troy, is a CB on the South team that I'm pretty high on, glad to see our main guy checking him out.
good deal
man, I can't wait for the draft.

Me too, Terry...
We could let Flo go
I was wacthing the senior bowl practice and this kid could come an play right away - quick feet and upper body strength
Chris Williams, Vanderbilt
Height: 6-6. Weight: 315.
40 Time: 5.13.
Projected Round: 1-2.
Co-captain of Vanderbilt's football team, Chris Williams simply doesn't allow sacks. His 40 at his size is remarkable.

I tell you tho
he looks good but will probably go in the 2nd round
and to me I rather pick a WR or another CB there
so sign Flo for 2 years if he does not ask for to much money - plus his old coach is back - am not how sure he about being in the right place but I can see us making the SB with 2 yrs - that or both may have a impact on his thinking - depending on how we draft

this guy surprised me
Andre Caldwell, Florida
Height: 6-1. Weight: 198.
40 Time: 4.36.
Projected Round: 2-3.
he caught every thing

this what I found
Felix Jones - As an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan, I would not take Felix in the 1st round. While he had a great season and had an imprssive ypc average, most of his yardage has come out of a gimmicky formation called the Wild Hog. In this formation, Jones usually lines up at WR. He then goes into motion and is at full speed at the snap. McFadden would toss him the ball and Jones would basically run an end around. He has not had enough carries as a true RB at the college level to warrant 1st round selection. He has the same body size and build as Reggie Bush, and this season proved that Bush is not an every down RB. I do not feel that Felix Jones is ready for that role in the NFL either.

got this from another site -
maybe wait on Johnson from EC
pretty much my same feeling

I agree with that
I mentioned in an earlier post that Jones reminds me of a poor man's Reggie Bush and those type of backs you draft in the 2nd or 3rd rds.
If I was running the draft, there would only be 2 RBs I'd consider at pick #22 as a feature back, Jonathan Stewart and Richard Mendenhall.
Mayock & Davis analyzed C. Johnson (ECU)
And it pointed out that although Johnson has breakaway speed, he's a little more reluctant to run between the tackles.
Which could make him a potential complement to MB3.
Clips of Johnson avoiding a crease inside and opting to go outside concluded them to believe that he wouldn't be suited as an every down back in his first one-to-two seasons... but that he'd need a little coaching to get him to hit holes between the tackles more often.
I haven't had the chance to watch extensive coverage of Senior Bowl week, but some of the practices have been very entertaining and the analyses have been quite interesting.
Love the NFL Network's tandem of Mike Mayock and Charles Davis during Senior Bowl week.
