Rooting for Tampa Bay

I don't want to have to beat the Giants for a third time.  I think this game will be close.

i'd rather face the bucs D than the Giants D ,

which has been strong lately

His clubhouse interview a few weeks ago

was interesting because he was able to express his opinions about his former team that he usually can't as a commentator, and he had very high praise for Romo and this team.

Tampa's D scares me far, far more

than the Giants D does. Tampa ended the year with the number 2 ranked defense in the league. Add to that a QB in Garcia who doesn't make many mistakes and who will have success against our secondary, I would much rather play the Giants.

by Philosopher on Jan 6, 2008 12:37 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Tampa

hasn't seen us this year. We've beaten the giants twice.Plus the giants have nowhere near the O-line we have OR the weapons on offense.

I'll take my chances against the bucs!

Really?

Since we couldn't even score a TD in 2 out of our last 3 games, and our leading WR has a bad ankle, there are few D's in the playoffs that certainly scare me. The Bucs D is one of them.

by Philosopher on Jan 6, 2008 12:49 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

that isn't going to be the same Cowboys team

that shows up next week and T.O. will be fine.

thats because they are playing stop the run

They want eli to beat him i dont think they will be doing that against dallas. Because of TO and witten let alone TG. I would much rather play the bucs because of the fact its hard enought o beat a team twice in one year let alone 3times. Bucs havent watched flim on us all year probably the giants players could be like remember last time we played them they did this yeah we can fix that blah blah

I think the Bucs are dispelling the myth that

you need to be playing well going into the playoffs after they lost their last two games in the regular season.

They look like a different team today and I think you'll see the same thing from the Cowboys next week as well.

For Teams That Have Won Super Bowls

It's no myth.  The evidence is overwhelming.  The closest thing to an exception the last twenty years is last years' Colts team.  Even then, they won their final regular season game.

And the case you were trying to make for the Bucs isn't looking so hot now, either.

win or lose

The Giants absolutely did the right thing in playing their starters last week (even considering the injuries). That team (and Eli especially) needed confidence going into the playoffs. I'm sure taking the Patriots to the limit helped them more than it hurt.

Pittsburgh beat Cleveland 3 times in 1994 and the packers beat Tampa 3 times in 1997

by 703Cowboys on Jan 6, 2008 2:55 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

How could the Packers beat Tampa 3 times?

They aren't in the same division. Did they beat them in pre-season?

by Philosopher on Jan 6, 2008 2:58 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Packers and Bucs were both in NFC Central

before the NFL realigned a few years back. You must be a youngin.

by Terry on Jan 6, 2008 3:00 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nope

Not young.

Just seems like the realignment was a long time ago. And I always want to switch TB with St. Louis and put in the Central for some reason.

Game over man, game over

Gints try for a 3rd time to beat the Boys. I hope our O-line has fixed their problems during the bye week.

we're certainly rested.

by Pete on Jan 6, 2008 2:40 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Whoever wins will be beat up.

These teams are going at it and the heat isnt helping. This shows the reason why the bye week in the playoffs is such a good thing.

by thebigham on Jan 6, 2008 2:41 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah

The Gints are beat up, and going all out in a meaningless game against the Pats certainly didn't help them. Moral victory my butt.

Their team is going to be limping in to Texas Stadium next Sunday.

Perhaps I am wrong

but the Giants don't scare me. Of course, if we play like we did in December, we are gonna lose. But if we can recapture that November magic we had going, with the addition of Glenn, the Giants will be a speedbump and nothing more.

by Philosopher on Jan 6, 2008 3:05 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I agree

I feel pretty good about this. The Giants have been playing well lately, while we haven't, but Eli was certainly slow getting started today and the Giants didn't look overwhelming, for sure. And they are beat up some, while we are well rested. If Glenn and TO are even close to full capacity, I think we can tear them up. It really just depends on how in sync and zoned into the game the Boys are. We have seen their awesome potential, which includes to beating the Giants twice. You are exactly right, if we see the Boys of most of the first 3/4 of the season, we should be quite able to handle the Giants.
