One of the Players that hit free agency that I thought the Cowboys should of made a run at is now unavailable,
Tatum Bell is back with the Lions.
The running back has agreed to a one-year, $1.6-million deal, according to a source.
Bell’s agent, Kennard McGuire, confirmed there was an agreement Monday, but did not confirm the terms.

Tatum Bell was a young veteran with alot of speed and ability and a player that really could of been a change of pace nightmare for defenses if he was used right in the cowboy offense.

I'm glad we didn't sign him
there are better backs in the draft.

I don't think it's about better backs
in the draft. It's more about having a veteran on board to back up a draft pick and MB3, if, perish the thought, MB3 gets injured. Would we be comfortable only having a rookie pick and Alonzo Coleman being the backups? That's not appealing to me. Also, if you have a vet on board, it gives you greater flexibility towards when you draft a back. You can feel better about waiting and you could use one of the first round picks as trade bait, etc. It's more about having options.

totally agree with Grizz....
I for one was not a fan of Bell coming here...Although I like his game, I'm sure he would've wanted a more prominant role in our offense, which he wouldn't have gotten here. He bitch and wined last year because of that, and demanded a trade...which only got him in the Lion's dog house.
Regardless of vet...our best interest would to draft a RB on day 1...There are no promises MBIII will be back after this year.
We go into the draft picking best available back, then turn to vet RB's after June 1st cuts....
Warrick Dunn is the back up vet I want, perfect blend of skill, leadership, and insurance. He's not going to be a starter anywhere, and knowing that, would make him ideal.
If can be coaxed to come here at a 1 year, very cap friendly price...I'd entertain taking Shaun Alexander- with his signing bonus money of two years ago already in the bank...maybe he'll concede to play for minimum, and take a chance helping us win a championship....just a thought. This way a vet can give MBIII a blow and we can work the rookie in on occasion, and handle special teams as well.

I think Alexander is spent...
The few times I saw him play last year he was going down on first contact and didn't have the burst he used to have. Kinda reminded me of Eddie George at the end of his career.

No heart
Like Eddie George, Alexander just doesn't have any fight left in him. He stops moving his feet and just doesn't push for those tough yards. He was never the toughest guy mentally anyway, but losing Hutchinson really hurt his career. It's incredible how fast he fizzled out.

Running backs have so many carries
in their NFL life cycle then they're finished, unless you're superman like Emmitt Smith.
