Tatum Bell off Dallas Cowboys radar; re-signs with Lions
Lions RB Tatum Bell is off the free agent market. The Lions have reached an agreement for a one-year deal reported for $1.6 million. After Matt Mosley reported the Cowboys might be interested in him, he’s been on the list of potentials for Cowboys fans. If the Cowboys are planning to sign a veteran RB to provide some stability at the position and give them flexibility in the draft in regards to when they need to draft a RB, those options are dwindling. Warrick Dunn is still out there, along with guys like Derrick Ward, Chris Brown, Musa Smith, Ron Dayne among others. The Cowboys may just ride with what they got into the draft and then decide afterwards whether they want to sign a free agent.
Hat tip to Deke for posting the news.

There’s been a wide range of opinion on CB Aqib Talib on this blog. SB Nation’s draft site, Mocking the Draft, has a pretty thorough review of him up. Check it out.

The Breerman discusses the chances of signing Ken Hamlin to a long-term deal in this post over at the DMN blog. The recent contracts given to Madieu Williams by the Vikings and Gibril Wilson by the Raiders have jacked-up the going rate for safeties. He quotes Stephen Jones as saying:
"What other players make, it affects everything," Executive Vice President Stephen Jones said this morning at the Cowboys' new stadium where it was announced Texas A&M and Arkansas will once again be yearly foes.

I came across this article about the Cowboys supposed interest in Pacman Jones on something called The Tufts Daily. I had to look up what The Tufts Daily was; it’s the college paper for Tufts University. Feel free to flame the remarks about Romo in the comments below.
A Jones for a Jones: This one made my column and it's only a report of discussions. That should let you know just how ridiculous it is that the Dallas Cowboys are reportedly considering pursuing Adam "Pacman" Jones if he is permitted to return to the NFL. Jerry Jones appears desperate, and it's possibly because he recently figured out that Tony Romo, like the Boston Bruins, just isn't that good. Maybe it's because a third Jones, running back Julius, left the Cowboys this week for the precious lure of Seattle.
But hey, maybe I'm wrong! Pacman Jones sure could lighten up the Cowboys' locker room and be a great role model for the team's younger players. The Cowboys have had their problems with players off the field before, and perhaps Jones (Jerry this time) wants to bring a resurgence of insanity to Dallas. Unfortunately, even talking about Pacman Jones is considered a big mistake in virtually every other NFL locker room, and my view on the situation is no exception. The Cowboys should focus on the important things, like wiping up T.O.'s tears and taping Romo's hands to the ball.

Hopefully Dallas has a scout report on Talib...
cuz if i looking for eventual #1 shut down corner, and read that report, ...I'd pass on him...He doesn't fit here...FS, maybe...but we're not looking for that...way too many questions with this guy..and from my own viewing of him this past post season has slid him to late first, mid second...
please Jerry...do not draft this guy unless he drops to #61.

+1
bad fit in Dallas. He is a Tampa 2 CB that needs safety help. Not a good man on man guy we need. Hopefully, he goes before the 22nd pick that way we won't be tempted.

Hope he's there at 22 or 28
Talib would fit nicely in Dallas.

I disagree that he would be a good fit, but
Kansas CB Aqib Talib, a Richardson Berkner product, will visit the Cowboys facility in mid-April, joining UNLV LB Beau Bell and Arizona CB Antoine Cason as those set to come to Valley Ranch.
Talib's case is a little different than those of the other two. Because he's a local product, the team is allowed to conduct a workout with him at Valley Ranch, something the Cowboys can't do with out-of-area prospects. And his presence will not count against the team's quota of 30 in-house visits with draft-eligible players.

Consider the tufts paper flamed
In an interesting side comment, the tufts paper also says public masturbation in their library is an ongoing problem. Wow.

Yeah, but that's cowboys nation Grizz
even in some obscure college paper, we will find injustices against our players and punish the guilty!

BTW, here's all I wrote
Wow, is this some obligatory piece that has to be written about sports? It must be because you clearly know little about what you are discussing. Pacman to Dallas is a rumor, just like every high profile free agent is linked to the cowboys because they are a popular team and make headlines. As for Romo being no good, again your limited knowledge on football is impressive in how limited it really is. He fumbled one snap and the media played that clip into the ground, supposedly so knee-jerk journalists like yourself can write about something and seem knowledgeable to other people with extremely limited knowledge about sports who like to make opinions.
Exceedingly sub-par article my friend

Go 'head on, King!!!
That guy can shove it up his man-used hershey highway for all I care, BABY!!! [said with Barry Switzer-Style Emphasis]
Sorry about that - inner rage kinda kicked in there... Back in your cage, Hulk!
Where was I? Oh yeah...
Your way of saying it was actually a more civil way of expressing our Cowboy Fan sentiments. Thanks for speaking on behalf of us, King.

Guess I kinda got carried away there, Tom.
I tried to reply to your "Tulsa" comment, but the comments are now disabled on that diary.
I actually live here in Virginia Beach, Virginia... which is where I grew up before going to school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And I graduated from ORU (went to school there from 84-89, yeah I know... the 'ol 5-year-plan 'cuz I changed my major).
I've been to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area three times (fall & spring break and vacation), watched da Canes play, and actually have pics on the Orange Bowl field and running through the tunnel (minus da smoke, of course).
Aaah, yeah. Those were the days.
Now I'm old... 41 yrs of age to be exact.

Time to get one of these
RFA's or Hamlin or TO under a new contract to free up some cap space and get Warrick Dunn signed.

Tufts-Harvard 1st game w American football rules
Tufts is my alma mater
I actually wrote a couple articles for the Daily when I was there in the late 80s.
But I certainly can't defend this one!
For an interesting tangentially related tidbit, from Wikipedia:
The Tufts football program is one of the oldest in the country. The 1,000th game in team history was played during the 2006 season. Historians point to a Tufts versus Harvard game in 1875 as the first game of College Football between two American colleges using American football rules.
And here's an interesting Boston Globe article on the game (reg may be required).
Carzo, the former Tufts football coach, athletic director, and now AD emeritus, makes a convincing case that the first true link in US college football's evolutionary chain was forged when Tufts squared off against Harvard at 3 p.m, June 4, 1875, on what was then Jarvis Field, just a short stroll north of Harvard Square.
[...]
"This is the first game between two US colleges, playing rules as we really know football," said a polite but adamant Carzo. "From our point, it's indisputable: Tufts and Harvard played the first intercollegiate football game in America. I know some people are going to take shots at us for saying it, but that's good. That's OK."
Some argue that the first football game was played between Rutgers and Princeton in 1869, but with "50 men on the field (25 aside), its ball smaller and rounder, and its play similar to rugby" or soccer with only kicking the ball and not running it, the game "bore little resemblance to its modern-day counterpart."
The Tufts-Harvard game was the first to use 11 men on a side. "...there was an academic restriction on campus, and they only suited up 11. That's kind of an interesting way to establish 11 men on a side, isn't it? But, no problem, Harvard put out 11 and they went at it." And so it has been very since.
So despite this particular writer, Tufts has a proud place in the history of football.
Oh, and BTW, Tufts won the game.
