UPDATED RUMOR: Pacman a Cowboy
According to The Ticket it is "just a matter of time" before it happens. They've agreed on the contract and just need to work the compensation out. Controversial? Sure. But with Jerry at the helm the reward is too great to overlook. Although, it depends on what they end up giving up....

oh rly?
They didn't create this. they were quoting rotowire.com. Besides Bob Sturm is one of the best local sports people we have.
btb.com needs to get up on this one. methinks it's real.

I must say
That whether this happens today or not, I think it's inevitable. The shoe fits...all-pro talented CB and return man, available at a discount, personal problems, wants to be a Cowboy...the Cowboys need both badly, have little cap room, and have a history of successfully taking on these guys (or even at worst, have a history of not letting them wreck the team). It's a perfect marraige of awful circumstances.
I will also say, right now, that if we can get him for very little money and very little in terms of compensation, we should do it. I know it's a risk, but you gotta take risks to win big. We'll have much more freedom to take a RB/WR in the first, can still snag a good CB with one of our 1st rounders (because we certainly can't ever rely on Pacman), and add yet another Pro Bowl caliber player to the roster. If you had the chance to do that with anyone not named Pacman, you'd do it in a heartbeat. Make the risk low enough for the team through the contract and trade price, and there's no reason to hesitate.

Does the word tampering mean anything to you
They've agreed on the contract and just need to work the compensation out.
This is a totally false statement, he's property of the titans and is suspended, there is nothing at all to this, its fiction!!!

wrong
Just like Hall just worked out a deal with Oakland before being traded. The team that owns the players rights can allow negotiations with other team.

The agreement
Pacman will be paid in cash, $1 bills only.

I was thinking of 2 different words or is it 1?

Well,
they said that the Titans allowed Pacman to seek a trade. It is kind of fishy that no one else has this but them. I'll delete the diary if nothing comes of it.

thats old news about
seeking a trade!!!. The problem is that Pacman is suspended, so he cant be traded to anyone and his meeting/hearing with Goodell for reinstatement isn't until July, and even then his reinstatement is highly unlikely since he continues to disregards Goodells guielines for reinstatement and continues getting into trouble off the field he's an idiot that will never get it, it's highly unlikely dallas will trade for him. Goodell will soon punish teams by taking away draft picks if teams continue to sign or draft these type of players into this league that bring a black eye to the leagues image by all of the off the field problems they bring, no team is going to risk draft picks hoping the player finally gets it, the risk reward is just not there for signing these type of players anymore.

Suspended players
can be traded. They said that The Titans allowed Pacman to seek a trade and he came to an agreement with the Cowboys.

You're right, I read this wrong,
Tennessee Titans have told Jones that he has permission to seek a trade. Jones' agent reportedly approached at least one team at the Indianapolis Scouting Combine to see if the team would be interested in acquiring Jones (and yes, suspended players can be traded), but that team said no.
who do you think that team was that was asked about acquiring Pacman, I have no doubt, it was Dallas....
What is most likely happening right now is that Jones' agents are approaching NFL teams and saying, "If you'll trade for Adam, he promises to be on his best behavior once the NFL reinstates him." And teams are most likely saying they don't believe Jones will really be on his best behavior.

He doesn't know the meaning of the words, BEST BEHAVIOR

Does his best behavior mean..
...that we won't go to stip clubs with a paper bag full of ones or that he won't take his gun-toting possy with him?

if this is true, the Cowboys are in trouble
because he'll be banned from the league eventually, its only a matter of time. I actually hope Goodell does eventually ban him at some point.

I just had a horrifying thought...
I'm afraid that if Jerry trades for Pacman (which I support), he may turn around and go get that WOW for us...by trading all of those picks we need for CB and RB depth for McFadden. As one of the resident salary cap wet blankets I'm not sure how that would even be possible (obviously it would involve not re-signing MB3 after this year, maybe even trading him now?), but I can see the hamster wheel turning in Jerry's head from here.
Again, even if we land Pacman, we have to act as if he'll never play for us and still draft a CB.....
by grapejoos on Mar 20, 2008 4:53 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Ooh, good point grapejoos
He may be addressing all needs before the draft in order to have a clear avenue to his trophy. Somehow, though, I retain faith in New, Reasonable Jerry who won't overpay for a player we don't need as an act of passion.
As for the Pacman signing; I've come around on this. As long as the compensation going back is insubstantial (One of our spare ILBs, perhaps, or a second day pick)and the terms of Jones' new contract ironclad in restrictions and clauses upon which it becomes voidable, I'm a believer.
by BudLight on Mar 20, 2008 5:01 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
New, reasonable Jerry
Well, we shall see. Adding Pacman for a pittance is the only way DMac even re-enters the discussion. I'd still rather have Stewart/Mendenhall/F. Jones and a Jenkins/Talib/Cason type instead. Hell, if Phillips slides enough, that could become an interesting option too. Apparently he's #3 on the DB draft board!
by grapejoos on Mar 20, 2008 5:17 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hmmm..
Does this completely negate the good kharma of adding a Zach Thomas to your team?
I say yes and then some...
by GhettoBear04 on Mar 20, 2008 5:05 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Lockers
That's why you put Thomas and Pacman next to each other in the locker room. It balances!
I think the guy's a horrible thug like everyone else, but he's not necessarily beyond redemption. I can't believe how much I want this to happen...feels so dirty.
