Two Cowboys make top-10 all-time receivers list
Fun article over at ESPN trying to rank the Top-10 WR’s of all time. They got a seven panel members to rank a list of over 200 WR’s for their Top-10. They had guys like Warren Moon, Mike Holmgren, Keyshawn Johnson and other famous players/coaches/scouts for the rankings. An ex-Cowboy and a current Cowboy made the list.
- MICHAEL IRVIN
Career: Played for Cowboys from 1988-99. Had 750 career receptions for 11,904 yards. Elected to Hall of Fame in 2007.
Quick quote: "People might not like some of the other things, but when he was on those stripes, he was as competitive as there is." -- Hall of Fame QB Moon
- TERRELL OWENS
Career: Has 129 TD receptions in career with 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys.
Quick quote: "My biggest knock on him is he drops too many balls, but he makes a lot of big plays and he's as good as there is after the catch and he makes difficult catches." – Moon
You should read the article; they have a good discussion on the wild variance of Terrell Owens’ rankings. One had him #3, others left him out of the Top-10 altogether. They have quotes good and bad about T.O., including Keyshawn, who still doesn’t like The Pod.
"It's a hard one not to put him in because he has good numbers," said Johnson, who caught 814 passes with four teams, most recently Carolina in 2006. "The reasons why he shouldn't be in are because he drops too many balls, he isn't as consistent, he's not a complete wide receiver in my book, he doesn't dominate all the time, he doesn't dominate in playoff games, he didn't help his team win the Super Bowl and he's selfish."

I’ll be doing a show with DCFanatic and Shango today at 2 pm EST. Tune in and listen to us gab about Pacman and the draft.

Felix Jones says that what people are asking him about most lately is can he be a feature back.
But Jones said several NFL teams have asked him over the past few months if he’s capable of being a No. 1 tailback.
"They just want to know if I’m an every-down back. It’s pretty good when they ask me that because I didn’t have a chance to show everybody at Arkansas," Jones said. "But once I get to a team and get a chance to show them, the team will really be happy."
Jones said he has spoken with the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, two teams that already have proven running backs on their rosters.

Tony Romo tees off in a golf tournament tomorrow.

Hey, T.O. is also a model. Now that’s a do-it-all receiver.
Market America's 10th annual Fashion Art Ball puts the spotlight on a host of celebrity runway models, including Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens; director Brett Ratner (the three Rush Hour flicks and X-Men: The Last Stand); DJ Irie and the heads of several South Beach night spots...

and he's selfish.
Never mind the fact that MeShawn said this, but aren't Wide Receivers supposed to be selfish?

how we forget Keyshawn
The guy is just jealous because he clearly never had the talent TO has. Keyshawn was one of the most overrated, selfish players of his era. Man, this guy is an idiot!

Are we sure Keyshawn wasn't talking about himself
Keyshawn is embarassing himself. I suspect he still is bitter that TO effectively forced Key out of Dallas based on his criticisms. TO does drop too many balls, nobody will deny that. But doesn't help his team win Super Bowls? Yeah, they didn't WIN the game, but TO sure did try. If McNabb wasn't blowing chunks on the final drive, they probably would have won, too.
TO in the Super Bowl: 9 Rec., 122 yards (team lost)
Keyshawn in the Super Bowl: 6 Rec, 69 yards (team won)
This was, of course, before TB kicked Keyshawn off the team for being a selfish whiner...like someone else we know.
To be fair, nobody would even dream of putting Key in a top 10 WRs list, so this isn't a direct comparison, but Key's TO hate has gone way too far considering that Key basically did all the same bad things as TO and didn't do as much on the field. TO's numbers make him a first-ballot HOF'er and definitely one of the top 10 of all time, and I would have admitted that if he were playing at the same level for another team right now.

yeah
And besides, everyone knows that TB won that SB mostly because of their defense, and the fact that they were playing Gruden's former team/assistant coach who changed NOTHING when Gruden left. But anyways I'm going off-topic...

Also true
Key contributed very little to that Super Bowl run and was let go immediately; that tells you how much the team valued him after trading 2 first round picks for him.
Now, I loved Key when he played in Dallas, and I realize he's not necessarily comparing himself to TO. But, to the extent that he's taking a guy who is top ten, all time, in receptions (#9 all time), yards (#10), receiving TDs (#3), yards/game (#8), and TDs (total, non-QB, #5) and saying he's not top-10 at his position due to these character issues, he sounds like a moron and hypocrite.

Remember their history
Keyshawn was essentially dumped by the Cowboys to make room for TO. Sounds like he hasn't gotten over it yet.

Total BS
TO did more to try to help the eagles win that superbowl than anybody on his team. He was playing with a broken leg for god's sake! He wasn't the one who got tired and was puking -- that was McNabb... aka McCrap... He wasn't the one who got tired this year in the playoffs either, that was Crayton...

Some people are just born haters
"The No. 1 job, you gotta catch it," one of the dissenters said. "You would never consider a guy who drops 17 balls in a season. It's off-the-board ridiculous."
Guess you don't have to do much research to be on an espn panel. Someone mind telling this guy that TO played 75% of the season with a broken finger....and still led the league in td's?

I thought Irvin should have been #3
I think Michael was clearly more talented than Don Hudson.

Don Hutson Was the Greatest Receiver
in the history of the NFL. The Packers, led by him, essentially created the modern passing game; and he dominated the league receiving for a decade. Compare his stats to any of his contemporaries, and it looks like a man playing against kids. As great as Rice was, he never dominated the league as consistently as Hutson, and he certainly didn't alter the way the game was played.
In fact, one could argue no NFL player at any position dominated the league as much as Hutson. One could make a convincing argument he was the greatest player in league history.
