Warrick Dunn interested in coming to Dallas
The DMN blog is reporting that Warrick Dunn's reps have contacted the Cowboys.
"The Cowboys are on Warrick's radar," said a representative at CAA, the firm that represents Dunn. CAA has not heard back with definitive word from Dallas.
It will be interesting to see what the Cowboys' response is. You have to think the Cowboys have to be just a bit interested in the former NFL Man of the Year.
If the Cowboys are intent on drafting a running back this year, having Warrick Dunn on your team can only be a good thing. He can be a veteran leader for the two young backs and can contribute from the 3rd running back spot. Tatum Bell is also available but I would prefer the Cowboys sign Dunn. He is more versatile, has better hands and has experience.
Update [2008-3-3 19:10:50 by Brandon]: From the DMN blog:
We're getting word that the Cowboys are planning on taking a wait-and-see approach on Dunn.

I know this breaks your heart Grizz, but it seems that Randy Moss won't be coming to Dallas after all.
The New England Patriots and Randy Moss are finalizing terms on a three-year, $27 million deal, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
Whew, disaster has been averted. Once this is finalized we can move on to all the other silly rumors floating around.
Hat tip to cowboybawler4 for being all over this story in his diary.

Finally
we can put all of this nonsense to bed. I'm glad Moss isn't coming here. He would've been a ticking time bomb for something horrible to happen.
Also, on the RB situation. I agree Brandon that Dunn would be the ideal signing. Awesome to hear things are already in the works!

I agree
That Dunn makes perfect sense,he's a stand up guy,and has no illusions of being the starter here.
As far as Moss is concerned...Thank god somebody signed him...disaster has been avoided!

Warrick Dunn
He is definitely worth a look. I'd like to see him here in Dallas.

well
it's either Dmac or Moss, looks like JJ is going after Dmac...
by Longhorn on Mar 3, 2008 5:32 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
no, its neither!!!

Dunn is perfect for us
He's still got some speed, nice change of pace. We draft a bigger back and a couple DBs and it's go time!
Moss and Owens on the same team? Even Texas isn't big enough for those two.

Dunn
I would absolutely love it if we could get Dunn here. He would be a heckuva mentor for Dmac.

the ony mentor Mcfadden requires
is a sex education teacher... He clearly skipped the class or the drug store...

i'm surprised garbage like this
is okay by Grizz.
eh, whatever.

what's that supposed to mean ?

Mcfadden has some' issues" to deal with
on the way, During the combine, it was disclosed that there was a paternity test suit filed against him with regards to a baby that was born recently. Mcfadden also stated during an interview with the Raiders that he has two more babies on the way by two different women, so that why I thought that a sex education teacher mentor or a drug store visit to purchase some prophylactics was in order.

you gotta lighten up longhorn
life's too short, atleast I dont advocate the death to a particular player.
I'm sure you'd be happy to know longhorn that I was thee very first person to have a comment on this blog deleted, and I assure you it was a pure gold.

you should take your own advice
quit going on a red herring tangent and abusing someone's personal life repeatedly...especially on a guy with hearsay accounts who has never been arrested.
by Longhorn on Mar 3, 2008 6:16 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
do you actually get aressted for having kids
what law is that longhorn, thats a new one to me,LOL
When Mcfadden says that himself, how is it hearsay... its called character issues to the NFL, and if you were handing out 35 million in guaranteed money, you'd want to know about his character issues too.
by Deke on Mar 3, 2008 6:27 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
ohhh, i see now
we shouldn't draft Dmac because he has sex, has kids, and supports his kids. Really? You want to punish a guy who supports his kids?
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
So, you hate people who procreate? Interesting.

No, not at all
as far as teams go, that what they call a character issue, that might be part of the reason why they dont draft him, that not what I believe or said why the cowboys shouldn't draft him. It makes no sense to trade up into the top five of a draft for a running back, any running back. Running backs are a dime a dozen in this draft, why give up your whole draft for one player, this team isn't one player away or have the money it would cost to sign him. I think he's over rated as a back, I see his legs go dead on first contact, I've seen him go down with an arm tackle, in college, it's easy to run outside, the pros, not so much. I think dallas can stay where they are, take a corner or a back and be alot better off, Mcfadden isn't the end all be all of running backs. dallas with four picks in the first three rounds have a chance in a deep draft to solidify this team in a lot of positions for five years if they are smart, I'd rather take that chance than throw all our picks away for one player, a runnning back at that.

OKay
you could have easily made that argument from the beginning and I would have understood fully where you are coming from. I disagree with you, but i respect your opinion.
The thing I have an issue with is you constantly lamenting the fact about him having kids...
by Longhorn on Mar 3, 2008 8:08 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
It's a legitimate character flaw
I know this isn't my argument, but let's be real here. This guy has basically had (at least) 3 illegitimate kids in about a year? If you're a responsible person, that simply doesn't happen. It's not the different women point (though that certainly helps his efficiency rating), it's just the fact that it shows a callous disregard for the reprecussions of his actions. Character matters, and frankly I think that shows just as much bad judgment as a minor arrest.

I agree grapjoos
this type of behavior should not be overlooked in a first rd draft choice. As far as I'm concerned, as much money teams are giving these first rd picks, they better have a squeeky clean background considering the way Godell has been ruling with an iron fist.
I personally would red flag any player with character issues and remove them right off my draft board. What good is a high priced player to your team if he's suspended for one reason or another.

Having 3 kids with 3 different women in the same
calender year????
Nobody cares if he decides to have kids.
He's a 20 year old has one kid,two more on the way,
and was quoted as saying that he'd hired a team of lawyers to "Take care of the situation"
You call that supporting your kids????
I don't!
I supported all of my kids,step-children and grandchildren...Financially,emotionally,and morally.
I got no respect for some superstar running back who has OBVIOUS character flaws, and expects to BUY his way out of TROUBLE!
GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!

OT: Bill taught Bill to cheat
interesting stuff from PFT.
I'm so glad this joker is gone...

"This time around, however, Parcells might have provided the league with enough ammunition to act. A league source recently pointed out to us this nugget from Peter King's "Ten Things I Think" in his MMQB: "I think you shouldn't make too much of this, but Bill Parcells, czar of the Dolphins, holder of the first pick in the draft, called Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski the other day and requested video of every one of quarterback Matt Ryan's 654 passes last fall. I still say Ryan at No. 3, to Atlanta, makes the most sense. "
But there's a problem with that. The source said that this practice is "very much against league rules, which forbid teams from contacting college teams for college video.""
