Moss close to deal with Pats
Ok everybody, calm down. Looks like Moss is going to stay in NE. The contract is just being finalized.
The New England Patriots and Randy Moss are finalizing terms on a three year, $27 million deal, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
The two sides are currently in the process of reviewing contract details, the source told ESPN.

Moss is gone
According to NFL.com
The Patriots and free agent wide receiver Randy Moss agreed to a three-year, $27 million contract on Monday, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Smart move by the Pats
Obviously
They've lost a few guys over the past week, this is one they needed to keep. I know that conventional wisdom says Belichick can win with your neighbor as a WR, but you don't mess with the chemistry Brady has going with Moss.
What a wierd situation though, this guy scores 23 TDs in one season and he's still looked at as a big risk around the league. It's his own fault of course...

Good
I don't want NE to stay as good as they were, but if he has to sign somewhere, I'm glad it's to a team we don't play. I was worried that Philly would make a move for him.

after what went on with T.O
by Deke on Mar 3, 2008 3:14 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
this also sets T.O.s market value
when Jerry attempts to re-sign him this season.

yeah
but thankfully it's not too much more than what Owens gets now (final year of 3yr, $24 million contract, if I'm not mistaken)

true, T.O.s next contract will be very similar
to his last in terms of length and dollars.

I'm kinda bummin'....I think JJ could've matched
that's relatively cheap I think...JJ should've worked some miricle cap friendly contract like they did with Flo....I for one think Moss would've been the best thing to happen to this team. Shame JJ couldn't redeem himself for skippin' on Moss back in '98....oh well..back to the draft boards..cuz there isn't a FA out there worth a damn.

Less than I thought he'd get
He must have taken a discount, because there's got to have been a team willing to pay more for the dude who set a new TD reception record.

I'm sure there are
but any team willing to pay more is probably struggling or rebuilding. And $9 mil a year isn't all that bad (certainly not Fitzgerald money, but still good).

I really don't think Moss
had alot of interest from other teams. The reason he took less.

Moss almost signed with Philly
Apparently they offered him more money and thought they had a deal worked out. I hate the Pats, but I'm glad he stayed in NE.

+1
Moss is better off in NE. Where we don't have to face him twice a season.
