The Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger have agreed to a new eight-year, $102 million contract, according to sources
The contract, which includes more than $36 million in guarantees and is easily the largest in team history, places Big Ben among the game's highest-paid players. In comparison, Peyton Manning received a $34.5 million signing bonus in his big deal and Michael Vick received $37 million in guarantees from the Falcons in his mega deal. Both Manning's and Vick's deals were signed in 2004.

wow, thats an insane contract for Ben
He's clealy not an elite QB but is being paid as the best. Very unusal for the Steelers to put so much money in one player. With Faneca leaving and their OL in shabbles, he'll be earning every penny.

Daaaaamn.
That's a lot of money. I mean, wow. I agree with you Terry, he's definitely not the kind of caliber player to get paid that type of money. Maybe it was partly a birthday present? Ha.
And on Dunn, we'll see. If he comes cheap, I'd take a look at the guy. Seems like everybody's frustrated with Atlanta these days. Next thing you know, Michael Vick's going to issue a statement that he no longer wants to play for the Falcons despite being in jail!

Call me crazy
But I don't hate this from the Steelers' perspective. 102 million is a ton of money, but they're spreading it over a very long time. He's still fairly young and as a QB should still be a contributor into his thirties. The guy put up a QB rating over 100 with one of the worst offensive lines in the business. The question must be asked, however; can he carry the load, or will his teams always depend on a strong running game to function?

i agree Bud..
...the guy is a pro bowler and super bowl champion..., and worked with less than the other pro bowlers, and put up great numbers, and a better QB rating than Romo,....spread out over 8 years, and giving retribution for years of service he already performed way below market value.......it's a fair deal....compared to top salaries contracts of 4 years ago....

As long as dunn
doesn't want a huge contract,I'd sign him...he'd make a great change of pace back for us!
