More Dallas Cowboys players speak about Pacman

It’s relatively quiet on the Dallas Cowboys news front. We’re all just waiting to see what will happen with Pacman. Speaking of Pac, Sam Hurd and Quincy Butler say they’d welcome Pacman in Dallas and claim that the Cowboys character guys in the locker room and front office would keep him out of trouble.

"We're like a family," Hurd said. "Everybody is going to treat you well and not let you be an individual and go out there and cause chaos and hurt the team.

"We're going to teach you and talk to you and let you know we love you."

"Look at Tank," Hurd said. "He was wild. He was doing a lot of crazy stuff. He came here and he calmed down. He's got people on this team he can hang around and associate with that want to know what he's doing off the field and that want to be part of his life outside the locker room."

"[Calvin Hill] really motivates young guys, especially ones with troubled pasts," Butler said.

Nick Eatman breaks down fan reaction to the possibility of Pacman lining up with the star on his helmet. Which group do you fall into?

Jerry Jones is going to get a gazillion-billion dollars for naming-rights to the new stadium.

BTB-regular Mullin has a diary up about Pacman’s desire to wear the #21 jersey in Dallas. I’m guessing Prime Time wouldn’t mind. And as noted, if you currently have a Julius Jones jersey, you win. #21 with the name Jones on the back would still be viable. Woo hoo!

I thought...

the new stadium was going to be 'Texas Stadium' also?

Jerry had said for a while

that he was going to sell it to corporate sponsors.  While 99% of the time this would tick me off, this time it really doesn't since he's going all-out on costs to make it as nice as possible...

...then again, check back with me when it's time to buy tickets, I may be angry then.

Uncertain

I'm torn between my thoughts on the stadium name.  I understand that Jerry has spent a kazillion dollars on the stadium, but I still want it to be Texas Stadium.  They Yankees are moving into a new park, and it will still be Yankee Stadium.  Jerry can afford to not have a corporate name on it, so I think he shouldn't.  Texas Stadium is too important of a name to let go.

The Stadium name should be

Tom Landry Stadium

Trade up a few spots to get ahead of Houston and draft Jonathan Stewart, thee best all around Back in the draft.

name on jersey

Clever, but didn't Julius have his first initial on the jersey too (to distinguish him from other Joneses like Nate)?

by eliason on Mar 30, 2008 1:10 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

yup

but you could always swap the names off. I know a guy that does that, it's more economically friendly.

I am at peace with Pacman

It's taken a lot of mental fortitude to get to this point, but I am OK with him coming here. Who am I to deny a man a 7th chance?

If he can stay out of trouble and help the team, then great. If he can't then out he goes. The ball is in his court.

Just get him in here already................

I love this Eatman quote:

For those who are putting up a fight and throwing the "character card" around, I'm sorry, but you might want to give it up. This thing is going down.

True Cowboys diehard since 1975.

It may be going down, but...

Goodell still holds the trump card, not Jerry or the Titans.

My guess is that the Pacster will be reinstated, come to Dallas and play for a future pay day. Let's just hope he's learned something, anything, about being a human.

Deal already done?

RotoTimes is reporting the deal for Pacman is already done, and that it will be announced tomorrow.

3/30: As expected, Pacman Jones has been traded to Cowboys for a reported 5th round pick, this according to RotoTimes sources. The report noted that a news conference is scheduled for early Monday morning.

5th rounder sounds good to me.

Jones Jersey

Last season my wife went with a friend to a game in a suite at Texas Stadium.  Her friend, not a football aficionado, noticed someone in the suite wearing a Julius jersey (J. Jones).  She turned to my wife, and in a hushed voice, said, "I can't believe someone would wear a Jerry Jones jersey!"

Strange.

The New York Football Giants and Jets play in New Jersey, and the  New Jersey Nets will play in New York.

I guess it makes sense to them.
