Tuna Helper wants a helping of Warrick Dunn, as he so eloquently described here. Turns out JJT does, too. Although I’m not sure if that will make TH feel better or worse. Dunn visited the Bucs on Monday, and now the Texans want in on Dunn.

We finally finalized the hiring of Brett Maxie to help Dave Campo coach the secondary.
As expected, Phillips has made his fifth and final staff addition by hiring Brett Maxie to assist Dave Campo in the secondary.
Maxie moved into his office and started work this week. His specific secondary responsibilities have yet to be finalized, but there's a chance he and Campo could split coaching duties between safeties and cornerbacks.

Here’s Romo on Brett Favre’s retirement via Hashmarks.
"Brett is someone that I always held in the highest regard, first as a young person who grew up in Wisconsin, and then as a fellow NFL quarterback. His style of play was as unique as it was effective. I admired his skills, his leadership, and especially his love for playing the game."
"You knew he was having fun when he played, and that made him fun to watch. He set the standard at the position for a long time, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best."
You can also visit Hashmarks and see why Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman thought Favre was trying to break the Playmaker’s fingers.

The field for the Azalea Invitational golf tournament at the Country Club of Charleston has been blessed through the years with many of the country's top amateur golfers. The entry list for the 2008 tournament is no different with a sprinkling of U.S. Mid-Amateur champions, Walker Cup golfers, top collegians and highly rated juniors.
But one of this year's entrants, although a top golfer, is better known for another sport. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who carries a 1 handicap, has accepted an invitation to play in the event, scheduled for March 27-30.
Update [2008-3-5 13:21:6 by Dave Halprin (Grizz)]: I just realized some people might interpret my comment "Romo is still a golfing fool" as some kind of swipe at Romo. That wasn't the intent, it's great that Romo golfs and is so skilled at the game, good for him. I come from a family of fanatic golfers and the term "golfing fool" was just something that described an avid golfer. Carry on.

idk much about golf..
is a 1 handicap good? what does that mean? and i dont wanna be one of THOSE guys.. but shouldnt' he be focusing on getting better? i get that these guys need rest but if he can go out n play golf he should be tryna get his QB game up.. its been almost 2 months already kids summer vacations aren't much longer.

Yeah, he's basically a "scratch" or par golfer..
I disagree eMBe3.
Romo needs to get away from football when he can. NFL players need the off-season to balance their life. And because he works hard at his golf game, doesn't mean he's missing mandatory off-season meetings or workouts.
I'm sure I'll get some crap for this comment, but I think Tony's golf actually helps him as an NFL QB. Although golf moves at a slower pace than football, your mental game is just as important. For Tony, this mental focus carries over from the golf course to the playing field.

totally agree Fargo....
I'm just hoping he doesn't leave the NFL for the pro golf curcuit...lol....1 handicap is about as good as it gets...but he still has another month or so before volunteer off season work outs begin....let him live it for now...I'd rather have him passing time playing in golf tourney's than doing the jet setter bit at kareoke bars in Hollywood.

I agree, Fargo
Romo's golf game shouldn't be seen as a distraction. If they profiled all the pros that are sitting at home playing Xbox, would people say that was a distraction too? You can't expect anyone to go 24/7/365. In fact, I agree with the theory that it hones his competitive skills.
Romo is one of the hardest workers on the Cowboys. Which should buy him a few hall-passes for how he spends his OTHER time. And in this case, his other time actually contributes.

Good for Romo
For most people, golf is an avenue to get away and relax. For Romo it's also a way to hone his competitive skills. Instead of driving around in a cart, enjoying the weather and scenery, he is competing against some very good golfers who take the game seriously. It's admirable that, as mentioned in previous posts, he chooses to participate in athletic competition instead of relaxing on the beach or in a bar during the off-season.
When you're the Cowboys' quarterback, everything you do comes under the microscope. We've been blessed through the years with guys at that position who have represented the team well both on and off the field.
