Dallas Cowboys random articles
Recent reports of Aqib Talib testing positive for marijuana use has sparked rumors that he may fall out of the first round. Draft guru Mel Kiper, Jr. doesn't think that Talib's past will affect him all that much.
"Talib’s interviews (with NFL teams), from what I understand, went very well," Kiper said. "He has that personality and that flair to sit in front of the NFL people and do a good job and more than hold his own and really impress them with his maturity and the fact that it’s behind him."
Trying to predict exactly what will happen with the cornerbacks in this draft is nearly impossible. While it seems easy to say that Talib has fallen off many teams' draft boards, the fact is that his athletic ability might keep him at at the top. No one is sure what the Cowboys think about Talib especially after he couldn't make his visit to Valley Ranch last week. But if Talib falls to Dallas, don't rule out the Kansas corner in a Cowboys uniform.

I have always had a soft spot in my Cowboys heart for Bill Bates, and the Star-Telegram feels the same.

Obviously, the Cowboys will do their best to put Roy in a position for him to succeed and that might mean taking him off the field on 3rd downs.
One player that always had a huge game against Roy is Jeremy Shockey and it seems that things aren't going well for him, either. Shockey is apparently unhappy about his role in New York.
Shockey told the Giants in December he wanted a changed role in the offense or a trade to another team, according to a person familiar with discussions between Shockey, the Giants' coaching staff and front office.
[snip]
Shockey, 27, who suffered a broken fibula in a Dec. 16 loss to the Redskins, feels his career is being cut short by all the blocking he has been asked to do since Tom Coughlin became coach of the Giants in 2004. While blocking is an integral part of a tight end's job description, Shockey believes he was more effective as a receiver under former coach Jim Fassel and offensive coordinator Sean Payton, now the coach of the New Orleans Saints, who are interested in trading for Shockey.
I feel sorry for Shockey. Really, I do. He had to miss out on a Super Bowl run after being injured while performing the basic duties of a NFL tight end. Let's hope that he and the Giants have a complete falling out so that he can go have career performances against other teams' strong safeties.
Of course Roy changing his number from #31 to #38 could solve all of his problems and we won't ever have reason to worry again.
Hat tip to Cowboys81 for posting the Roy Williams link in his diary.

I don't want any part of Talib
I felt this way before the Marijuana story broke and I feel more strongly about it now. I think he may be the most overrated CB coming out of the draft.
No matter what rookie CB we draft they will not get much playing time on the field this season, especially if we trade for Pacman. Were looking at Pacman, Henry and Newman as the starting three and Alan Ball as the 4th CB.

I agree on talib
but there is still a major need for a cover corner early in the draft. You cant think of a draft as NOW, Henry has a history of missing time because of injury and after this year, probably wont be back, there is no guarantee that Pac-rat will keep out of trouble, and until a trade actually happens, he's not even a cowboy yet, so actually any Corner drafted will see alot of time on the field this year. If we happen to stay and draft at 28, I hope Antoine Cason is there, he is thee one corner that can come in and contribute on day one.
