SB Nation Mock Draft - the pick is up
OK, the deed is done. I made the Dallas Cowboys selection at #22 over in SB Nation's 2008 mock draft. Visit Mocking The Draft to see the results. Some will be happy, others will not. Just remember, it's only a mock!
In conjunction with my pick, I found this tidbit on CB Anotine Cason on a Buffalo Bills site. It's from mid-March of this year.
A league source has told Scout.com that Buffalo, Carolina, Arizona, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Dallas and Green Bay all have first-round grades on Cason.
Thought that was interesting.

The Cowboys are hosting some top-level LB talent, and not the outside pass-rushing hybrid 3-4 LB type. Keith Rivers is visiting Valley Ranch and now Jerod Mayo is coming.
Tennessee linebacker Jerod Mayo will visit the Dallas Cowboys on April 15-16, one of 30 such visits the team is allowed to host.

Former Cowboy Matt Lehr's steroid issue raises its head again.

Talib and Manningham failed college drug test
Saw a report on the ESPN Ticker that Talib and Manningham admitted to NFL officials they failed multiple drug test while in college for Marijuana.
I don't want either one of these players anyway, but this could affect where they get picked in the draft.

I saw that
One team said they wouldn't touch Talib at all. He's a serial offender and doesn't get it.

Talib
told teams that he had encounters with Mary Jane while Manningham told teams that he hadn't, later Manningham sent a letter saying that he lied because he was nervous. On ESPN, Mort said that the majority of players coming into the league have tried it.
Mel Kiper also said today on NFL Live that Talib should go in the top 10 even now because he didn't lie and said he was his #1 CB on the board.

Talib will not be a top 10 pick..pleeeeeease
Kiper better lay off the weed too...cuz he's lost it.
I want nothing to do with Aqib Talib...I hope and pray Jerry knows better...We need a CB(Cason) with high character to guard against a possible slip of Pacman...NOT a CB(Talib) that will join Pacman on the suspension list....As this punk Talib surely will.

I agree, Talib might fall out of the 1st rd
due to those concerns and the fact real scouts know he's not that great.

I dont think Talib is that great...
but i dont think that tryin some weed is a character concern. If all these guys had the guts to be honest, I bet damn near all of them have tried it. Now if he's a straight up pothead, thats a problem. But we dont know either way.

he didn't "try" weed....He failed 3 drug tests...
and kept smoking regardless...That's pure irresponsibility, total disregard for authority, total disrespect to his coach, his teamates, and the university...it's a complete slap in the face of the school that GAVE him a free education, and the ability to make millions....The only reason he was truthful and told the teams is because they would have founf out on their own, and he was able to put a spin on it by saying he has totally given up weed since the birth of his child less than a year ago ???..from the woman he's been accused of beating ?????...do we see poor judgement throughout this story ???...He would be completely OFF my draft board if I was running the show.

I have to agree
Getting busted once and not again, that's one thing. But to get busted 3 times is a huge red flag. How many times did he smoke and get away with it just by the luck of the draw. I wish he would wake up and see it's not worth it. As much as I think he had a huge upside, I wouldn't want the guy on my Cowboys after learning about this.

Decent pick
Was it that long ago that we were optimistic of getting Cromartie at #22? How the time flies.

great pick Grizz
I'd be more than happy with Cason as our first pick at #22, the kid is very underrated, much better than guys like Jenkins and Talib who are rated ahead of him by most.

I like Cason alot
he was expected to be a top 15 going into this year and seems like a very well rounded player. That being said I still would rather have Jenkins, McKelvin, and DRC over him.

I like Cason
too. I just think he'll probably be available at #28. Personally, I think Cason is the 4th best CB in this draft before Talib.

Man, I hope this comes true.
Great job, Grizz. Sorry I'm a little late.
Give us some Antoine Cason!!!

Mayo is a stud
and Ive been warming up to the possibilty of adding a playmaking linebacker to the roster. I know we've got bigger fish to fry, but if top notch players slide I say grab em.
