I happen to think he'd be a serviceable #2. I'd prefer Kitna, but with him out, it comes down to McGee as our lone backup. With the failings of our O-line, and the playoff picture shaping up, now is not the time to be caught with our pants down at the backup QB position.
Even still, there's a part of me that assumes he would actually be the #3 guy anyways.
