Redskins DE Adam Carriker needs knee surgery (Rotoworld)

DE Adam Carriker is expected to undergo surgery after seriously injuring his knee in the Redskins' Week 2 loss to the Rams. Carriker went down on the second play of the game and never returned. He'll have an MRI on Monday, but the Redskins are not optimistic. "It doesn't look good," coach Mike Shanahan said. The 'Skins also lost OLB Brian Orakpo to another pectoral injury, leaving a gaping hole in their pass-rushing stable. It's good news for their Week 3 opponent, the Bengals. Source: Washington Post

Giants CB Amukamara has high-ankle sprain (Rotoworld)

Giants RCB Prince Amukamara has been diagnosed with a right high-ankle sprain. The word comes via the CBS telecast. It's a minor victory that Amukamara has avoided a break, but high-ankle sprains can often linger for more than a month. Amukamara is now extremely doubtful to be ready for Opening Night on September 5, meaning the G-Men will be forced to turn to Bruce Johnson or Michael Coe opposite Corey Webster as they wait for a timetable on Terrell Thomas (knee). Amukamara, who was limited to seven games by a foot injury as a rookie, went down untouched on a first-quarter tackle of Brandon Marshall. Source: New York Daily News

Eagles HC Reid: Maclin's hamstring strained (Rotoworld)

Eagles coach Andy Reid revealed following Thursday night's preseason opener that Jeremy Maclin is dealing with a strained hamstring. Maclin suffered the injury in pre-game warmups and was a late scratch for Thursday's exhibition opener. The severity of the strain is unknown, but hamstrings are tricky and can cost players a significant amount of time if setbacks occur. Look for the Eagles to proceed cautiously with Maclin. They are counting on him to be their No. 1 receiver this season.

Isaiah Stanback to have knee surgery

From the DMN blog: Wide receiver Isaiah Stanback will undergo surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee. Stanback suffered the injury in Tuesday's workout at Standridge Stadium but attempted to practice Wednesday without much success. He is expected to be ready for training camp that starts on July 28. Stanback has been troubled by injury since the Cowboys took him in the fourth round in 2007. He has had shoulder surgeries in each of the last two off-seasons after suffering a foot injury as a senior at Washington. Stanback is competing for one of the final wide receiver spots and his absence will put him behind entering camp.

Redskins' top draft pick WR Thomas pulls hamstring

The Skins are having a tough time with injuries in TC. Sure hope we avoid this kind of stuff. "Wide receiver Devin Thomas, the Redskins' top draft pick, has been carted away from practice after pulling his right hamstring at training camp. Coach Jim Zorn says the team doesn't immediately know the extent of the injury. [...] Also Thursday, defensive end Chris Wilson strained a calf muscle during drills."

McNabb's shoulder forces him out of practice
