Emmitt - prepared as always...

at it again:

EMMITT’S NEW NAME OF THE WEEK
Posted by Mike Florio on September 14, 2008, 11:23 a.m.
During Sunday morning’s 10:00 a.m. EDT SportsCenter, ESPN’s Emmitt Smith referred to Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel as Matt "Hassel."

Four times.

We realize that we have promised not to make fun of Emmitt for a week, given that ESPN ultimately waived exclusivity as to the Ravens-Texans game that was going to be played on Monday night, and that ESPN permitted DirecTV to telecast nationally.

But we’re really not making fun of Emmitt. We’re just reporting facts.

Actually, we applaud Emmitt for changing on the fly. After host Josh Elliott properly stated Cassel’s name, Emmitt got it right.

And it’s really hard to fault Emmitt for getting Cassel’s name wrong. I mean, it’s not like Cassel’s name was mentioned in the media a million times or so this week.

Another top tier team in trouble ????

I hate to bask in our promising road to the Championship.....But if we're ever gonna get over the hump, and get that #6 SB trophy before any other team can....we're gonna have to beat out a pretty damn good team in the NFC championship....and onto the SB, not to play in it...but to WIN it........well....I'm certain NE takes a step back....now Jacksonville ??....They lost both OG's, possibly for the season....THAT WILL hurt their team....a run oriented squad needs quality OG play....I hate to see guys go down...and I pray none of ours do.....BUT damn....week 1, and there's 2 sure fire SB contenders taking serious hits to their chances of even making the playoffs....I personally had SD representing the AFC in this upcoming SB, and even they are banged up, and lost to a less than stellar Carolina team missing their best player(S Smith), on the road....

Our road to the title just got a bit easier this week.....wooo hooo

I know it's not Cowboy related....but man....Tom Brady...OUT for the season....

hmmmm.....there goes one of our competitors...As much as I hate to see a player go down in any sport, especially football....Time for us to be a little selfish. I for one look forward to our beloved Cowboys winning this years Super Bowl....And if it comes at the expense of a main player, on a team that's surely a frontrunner towards  the SuperBowl race...so be it........I can only hope and pray for my own team......here's to the speedy recovery to all our injured players...and continued good health......here's a link......:

I still believe this is the better option at #2 QB

I have long been a Culpepper follower....and if he would come play here for the league minimum.....I'd feel a whole lot more comfortable if Romo were to go down with him behind center, over BJ....

David Kircus anyone ??

Thought i'd throw this name out here......The dude can play, has skills, and I'd be all for taking a look at him, in the absence of Austin............was outperforming many of the Miami receivers in training camp.......I'd even go out on a limb and proclaim him as good or better than Hurd at this point of his career....He's a gamer....not sure of his special teams abilities, but i'm sure he's played some .........

I found our #2 WR to stretch the field.

Ideally, We'd all love to find a Lightening BOLT that can run some go routes, some post corners, maybe even a reverse or two.....Back in the days, The Cowboys were known to think outside the box and recruit athletes with little or no football experience, example:  transitioning other position players into WR's, Safties, etc., baseball players, basketball players, track and field guys, etc....We hit big with Bob Hayes, we tried to pursued Carl Lewis, Ben Johnson was targeted......really....to some extend Jerry has the same thinking, bringing in ex college QB's Crayton, Stanback, Polk.....all with the common goal of finding an elite athlete with speed, strength, and versatility to become a playmaking WR for the Dallas Cowboys....

After thinking about the ideal speed threat we so desire...I decided to look into these guys running over in China right now.....You want a guy with refined physical attributes...Tall, lean, powerful, and of course stupid fast.....OK....I am not sure if this guy, or any of the guys have any dreams or aspirations to be a Calvin Johnson and reap the rewards of multi million dollar contracts playing in professional football.....maybe they make enough just doing the track thing....not sure....BUT, If I owned an NFL team....be damn sure, I'd be trying to sign this human rocket from Jamaica.....6'5" 210lbs+, strong, chiseled, athletic, freakish abilities, large hands, exceptional quickness for a man his size, and of course....THE FASTEST MAN IN THE WORLD. and it's not even close......

Here's our new #2 QB

It's been announced that Brett "Drama Queen" Farve has been traded to the New York Jets......To make room for Brett and his 12 million dollar salary, There will be an expected release of one other existing QB's......Chad Pennington / at 6 million is more than likely gone from the Jets come thursday morning......

Jerry must do everything in his power to aquire this guy as insurance for our dynasty run of the next several years ...I am sure we can get him fairly cheap (2.5-3 million per) to back up Romo......I'd sure sleep a whole lot better with Pennington over Brad..........thoughts ?

CARTER IN, EMMITT OUT ON SUNDAY NFL COUNTDOWN
Posted by Mike Florio on July 29, 2008, 10:34 a.m.
It’s official. Emmitt Smith will not be part of ESPN’s two-hour pregame show, NFL Countdown, in 2008.

ESPN is expected to make the formal announcement soon.

Emmitt will be replaced by Cris Carter, whose enhanced visibility could help his chances of getting into the Hall of Fame on the second try. (Then again, if Carter does a bad job or comes off as a blowhard, it could hurt him.)

Emmitt will remain on Monday Night Countdown, and he’ll have a role on the Sunday morning pre-Countdown version of SportsCenter.

The Sunday NFL Countdown lineup will consist of Chris Berman, Mike Ditka, Carter, Tom Jackson, Keyshawn Johnson, and Chris Mortensen.

Monday nights from Bristol also will feature Berman, Ditka, Carter, Jackson, Johnson, and Mortensen. Stationed at the game sites will be Stuart Scott, Smith, and Steve Young.

Also, it appears that Suzy Kolber and Michele Tafoya, who reportedly have been nudged out of the MNF broadcast (or, at a minimum, given minimal roles) will be reporting extensively for ESPN during pre-game and post-game coverage. This could mean reduced presence and/or involvement at the game locations of folks like Rachel Nichols, Sal Paolantonio, and Ed Werder.

UPDATE: Newcomer Trent Dilfer is expected to be a contributor to Monday Night Countdown, and to become a fixture on shows like NFL Live.
