Hang on to Jason Garrett

As per ESPN's first take, the Cowboys have given the Falcons permission to interview Garrett for their vacant coaching position. Garrett hasn't agreed to interview yet, however. Also, they slipped in during that headline that Garrett is the leading candidate for the Raven's job.

Let's just hope Jerry can keep him around!

Austin Cowboys fans

Where are all of you Austin Cowboys fans going to watch the game tonight? My current plan is Trudy's south location (really mad that the normal one isn't showing it because it's right by my house). However, I did find some places on the internet to watch free tv including the nfl network, so I'm debating going out to a bar and listening to a bunch of knuckleheads talk about football while I'm trying to focus.

What are your plans for the game if you are in Austin?

OMG!

Carrie Underwood found herself a new man!

Poor Romo, she is smoking hot! So much for them being engaged. He better make sure and focus on Minnesota - news about an Ex might make the unflappable Romo a little nervous!

Here is to Romo shaking off the 'ole ball and chain and throwing tons of touchdowns for the rest of the season. Once he gets to the superbowl, I'm sure she will want him back!

Can this tank guy play corner?

I think that having Tank Johnson is going to be a nice addition to our D-line because it will provide some rest for Ratliff and give us a decent rotation at that position. But man, I really wish we could have found a troublemaker that can run with a wide receiver. Our run defense has been a pretty darn good unit so far this year, and while it never hurts to add depth to the D-line, our secondary could use some depth as well.

Crayton's mouth

I'm a little on the fence when it comes to all of Patrick Crayton's recent talk. One on hand, I love talking smack in my fantasy league, and I love the fact that we are good enough that trash talk can actually be worth something. There is a certain swagger that comes with backing up your talk consistently. Crayton's Superbowl prediction seems to be ok mainly because it doesn't really provide much "bulletin board" material for any one team. However, I am always a little bit weary about going after specific teams.

I know we should definitely run over the Vikings this weekend, but saying that you feel sorry for the Vikings for having to deal with us after this pats game can provide some material to a team that is much better than the Buffalo Bills. He also said on the DFW sports beat on FSN "...you might as well call us the Purple People Eaters on Sunday."

A.D.

I don't know everybody else's college football ties, but man oh man, I am praying for somebody on our defense to light up Adrian Peterson on Sunday. Nothing worse than a Texas traitor that decides to go up north so he can win a championship. Everybody knows how that turned out for him.

Another thing, why would you give somebody the nickname of "A.D." when his real initials are so close to that? Eventually this guy is gonna get hurt just like at OU and he will no longer be able to run around "all day."

TO's celebration

This is extremely unimportant, but something that I've been wondering ever since the game. What was TO doing when he caught that touchdown pass? I wasn't really paying that much attention because I was jumping up and down, but even when I watched it again, I still had no clue what it was he was doing.

Was he praying? Was he thinking? Was he scribbling on the ball? I really don't have a clue. If anybody has some insight into the celebration that didn't matter at all, I would love to hear it!

Maybe he wasn't doing anything at all, but it seemed deliberate, so I'm curious.

3rd down defense

I think most people would agree that our 3rd down defense was the achilles heel of our D this afternoon. If you take a look at the play by play, you notice how many 3rd downs we were able to get them into at the beginning of the game. What you notice, is that the defense simply got worn out. Giving up 1st downs on 3rd downs consistently is totally demoralizing to a team and makes the defense stay on the field for a very long time. Our slow start on offense also helped wear out the defense, but take a look at the numbers and its pretty evident why the defense got so tired.

Our Defense v. the Pats Offense

Everyone keeps talking about how the Pats offense is unstoppable and that our Defense won't be able to hold them back. However, I say look at last year. The 9-0 Indianapolis Colts come to Dallas with what I would say is an offense just as good if not better than the Patriots. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne vs. Randy Moss and Donte Stallworth? I think I'll take the former every time. Regardless of that point, the offenses are very comparable talent wise and production wise.

The Folk Wagon

Man I haven't seen this many people jump on a bandwagon this fast since....

well...

Tony Romo!

And believe me, I'm on it too. In fact, I'm driving the thing. I am, however, slightly worried that the sheer quantity that has boarded the wagon might bring it to a screeching halt, or worse, make the wheels fall right off.  We must remember that Nick Folk has played in 5 games in the NFL. He has also made 1 single clutch kick in the NFL (well 2 if you count the cheap timeout). Regardless, I'm pretty sure he isn't Morten Anderson or Jason Elam yet.
