Payton taking Gibbs with him

Update [2006-1-23 13:53:32 by Grizz]: Found a confirmation article here and here.

Radio station 1310, the Ticket, is reporting that Cowboys LB coach Gary Gibbs will be joining Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints as their defensive coordinator. I haven't found any links to articles supporting this, but it's a good bet considering all the chatter over it in the last week.

Replacing Gibbs could be current Cowboys TE coach Paul Pasqualoni or possibly Jim Herrmann from Michigan. USA Today reported this item last week.

The Cowboys seemingly have been bracing for [LB coach Gary] Gibbs' departure, as they supposedly have been in contact with Michigan defensive coordinator Jim Herrmann about becoming the linebackers coach.

Pro Football Weekly has this tidbit in its "The Way We Hear It" section:

We hear one interviewee for the Rams' head-coaching job -- there were eight altogether -- who definitely did not impress the team's hierarchy was Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, whose broad vision of the team was reportedly not up to snuff.

Miami is following up on the Redskins lead in assembling a staff of "name" coordinators. From ESPN we learn they hired Mike Mularkey as offensive coordinator and Dom Capers as defensive coordinator.
