Time for Flozell to step up

JJT is calling out Flozell Adams in his latest article (sub. required). He says that it's time for Adams to step up and take the leadership role on the offensive line. JJT reminds us that Adams is our best offensive lineman and a former Pro-Bowler, and that he now needs to be a leader in the clubhouse.

But Adams must take even more of a leadership role this season. He must set the tone with his performance, his practice and his study habits. He must lead the way for an offensive line that has many more questions than answers at this point of the off-season.

[snip]

In the process, he must become a team leader for the first time in his career. It's no longer just about doing his job on the field.

We'll see how that pans out. Players can't change who they are overnight, but sometimes when leaders depart - like Glover and Keyshawn - other guys have to fill the void. Adams is a good candidate to help Blesdsoe lead on offense.

JJT also answers his mail and thinks that Bobby Carpenter will miss the June 2-4 mini-camp.

Q: Will Bobby Carpenter be able to participate in the upcoming minicamp? I read that Carpenter will be done with his one class before the minicamp and that the Cowboys were going to petition the NFL to allow him to attend and participate in the practices.
Mark Schultz, Saginaw, Mich.

TAYLOR: I don't think so. Ohio State is on the quarter system as opposed to the semester system, so final exams won't be finished until the first week of June. I don't think a petition is going to work because the idea is to protect the student. It's not the end of the world if he misses a couple of minicamp practices in June.
