Davis needs to pass physical, Burnett cleared for camp

Nick Eatman covers a lot of ground in this article, including Keith Davis. In an article the other day, Mickey Spags wanted to hear from someone in authority at Valley Ranch about Davis, so Jerry Jones obliges.

"Nobody is happy about this at all," Jones said. "I'm only speaking for myself, I'm not happy about it. These incidents, he's not (the causing) these incidents. Looks like these things are happening to him from any information I can get. I don't see a team rule violation here but candidly, apart from being glad he's safe, he's going to have to be able to pass his physical to get on the field. This was a non-football injury and these players are going to have to understand there are some consequences when you have a non-football injury."

Eatman also brings us up-to-date on LB Kevin Burnett.

Jones said Burnett has been cleared to begin practicing at the start of camp, less than seven months after the linebacker underwent reconstructive knee surgery after tearing his ACL in the final week of the regular season.

"I am excited about Kevin Burnett and I am glad to see him get out here and compete," Jones said. "I feel like he had some things. We felt that way when we drafted him and he showed some of it last year. I like our new acquisitions at linebacker. I am excited bout seeing all of them."

Burnett will line up behind DeMarcus Ware at right outside linebacker, but could have an expanded role in the nickel defense.

Good news that Burnett is ready to go at camp.

Speaking of Mickey, he answers a fresh batch of mail, including questions about Davis, Terrell Owens, Dwight Smith, Greg Ellis and others.
