As Grizz reported earlier, Marcus Spears injured his knee today during the Cowboys morning practice. Spears will have a MRI today but the injury appears to be a torn meniscus and will require surgery. The Cowboys are hopeful he will only miss two weeks of practice and will be able to play in the final three preseason games.
Man, I feel really bad for this kid, hurting his knee two years in a row early in camp. While you can look at this in a positive light and say that Ratliff and Hatcher will now get more reps, Spears will miss important work. Remember, Spears, although very talented, is just a baby in terms of NFL experience and he will now be set back even more.
This isn't the kind of start I hoped for regarding injuries. Hopefully, everyone cross their fingers, this will be the only significant injury in camp.
