The Cowboys have added an unexpected name to the head coaching list of candidates, former Cowboys coach Gary Gibbs.
The Cowboys requested and were granted permission Thursday to talk with New Orleans defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs about the club's head coaching job.
Gibbs, who just completed his first season with the Saints, spent the previous four years as linebackers coach with the Cowboys from 2002-2005. Before joining the Cowboys, Gibbs coached 22 years in the collegiate ranks including a six-year stint as head coach at the University of Oklahoma.
