High on the Ham

Ken Hamlin is getting much love this week. Nick Eatman focuses on Hamlin in an article that also discusses the high-draft pick talent at safety on both the Cowboys and the Redskins. Ken Hamlin and Roy Williams vs. Sean Taylor and LaRon Landry. Good stuff.

"It's definitely a lot of talent (at safety)," Hamlin said. "It's definitely a big positive, having a safety that can do multiple things other than just being in the back, deep safety that can hit, cover. We're starting to see a lot of that.

"(The Redskins) definitely have two safeties that are really talented and making big plays. Roy is doing a good job for us. I'm just trying to get named in the same category as those guys."

Mark me down for signing Hamlin to a long-term deal after the season. He’s actually been better than I thought he would be and I had a high opinion of him coming in.

Calvin Watkins gets in on some Ham-love, here.

Hamlin, in his fifth NFL season, is third on the team in tackles with 65, second in interceptions with four and third in passes defensed with eight.

"You can't teach this," secondary coach Todd Bowles said of Hamlin's leadership. "You either have it or you don't. He has a great feel for the game, and he understands what's going on."

Yeah, yeah, but let’s leave the final word to the verbose one – MB3.

"He's the man," running back Marion Barber said.

I like it.

Bigg could play or could not play; it is unknown at the moment.

The sprained left ankle causing guard Leonard Davis to leave practice on Wednesday and miss Thursday's practice might not be severe enough to sideline him for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins.

"We don't know if he'll be able to play or not," Phillips said. "But he felt a lot better than he did
(Wednesday)."

Phillips said Davis suffered what is being called a "slight" high ankle sprain.

Oh man, if there’s one thing I hate is the dreaded high ankle sprain. I don’t care what degree of sprain it is, when they say high, I get low.

The DFW S-T has an article asking the question: Is T.O. a Hall-of-Famer? Discuss.

Since I was unable to stick with the regular posting schedule on Thursday, hopefully Friday you’ll get a double-shot, one Scouting Report and one 5 Questions segment.
