Cowboys hire Wade Wilson as QB coach

New, comments

From DC.com:

Phillips on Thursday made two more hires, coming to terms with Cowboys former quarterback and quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson as the team's new quarterbacks coach and also bringing on Oregon State assistant head coach Bruce Read to become the team's special teams coach.

The Cowboys interviewed Wilson on Wednesday, needing only a day to come to agree on a contract. Wilson coached the Cowboys' quarterbacks from 2000-02 and has spent the last three years in Chicago...

And what of the defensive coordinator? This from a San Diego newspaper, discussing the Chargers recent hire of another secondary coach to pair with current coach Brian Stewart.

The addition of a second defensive backs coach is curious for two reasons.

First, the Chargers tried having two assistants for that position in 2004 and '05, an experiment that resulted in a fractured secondary listening to different ideas. Assistant Albert Lewis was fired after the '05 season, leaving Stewart as the lone voice. The Chargers secondary had its best statistical season in almost a decade in 2006.

Second, Stewart is being sought by Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips to be his defensive coordinator. The Chargers, however, will not let Stewart out of his contract.
