Cowboys reportedly negotiating with Leonard Davis

Free agent meetings update:

Leonard Davis of the Cardinals hasn't scheduled a trip because negotiations were heating up with at least three NFC East teams, including the Dallas Cowboys.

So are the Cowboys planning to use Davis at guard if they sign him? Or is this insurance against not signing Marc Colombo. By the way, there's an unsubstantiated rumor going around that Colombo has agreed to terms with the Cowboys, but I haven't seen anybody in the Dallas media report it yet so I remain very skeptical of that.

The two top guards on the market have meetings scheduled elsewhere.

Bengals guard Eric Steinbach is heading to Cleveland for a visit, with secondary trips set up with Tampa Bay and Seattle. The Seahawks talked Chargers guard Kris Dielman into making Seattle his first stop.

Also, my dark horse candidate for free agent acquisition is going to a meeting in sunny Florida.

Falcons fullback Justin Griffith plans to go to Tampa Bay.

And as expected, the stud of free agency is going to a meeting by the bay.

The 49ers are expected to get a visit from Ravens linebacker Adalius Thomas.

Terrell Owens had his second surgery on his finger today.

Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens said he was groggy after having surgery on his right ring finger Thursday, but was "good."

It's the second procedure Owens has had to repair a torn tendon in his finger since the season ended.

"Everything went OK," Owens said. "I'm good."

Owens said he was taking his rehab "day by day."

Here's the nice story of Everson Walls giving a kidney to Ron Springs.

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Ron Springs was recovering Thursday after receiving a kidney donated by former teammate Everson Walls.

The transplant operation was performed Wednesday at Medical City Hospital in Dallas.
