Roster rankings. Why not? We got a Friday to kill before the Cowboys play the Broncos on Saturday. This is an exercise in audience participation, so comments on my rankings and changes you would make are welcome.
Here's how I approached this exercise: I acted as the assistant coach at each position. Wade Phillips has asked me to make up a list ranking the players at each position. The rankings are a guide for the head coach, so if he decides to only keep two QB's, then Matt Moore and Richard Bartel would be cut. So the guys at the bottom of each list go first, and at guys at the top are the ones you absolutely keep. I also assumed everybody is healthy enough to at least play, if not at 100%. Tacked on at the very end is long snapper L.P. Ladouceur, who we can't cut.
My rankings are based on a mix of player history, contract status, what I saw in San Antonio, what I saw in the first preseason game, what I’ve read and plain old gut feel. In other words, it's total B.S. - but here it is any way to spark some lively debate.
