What’s going in Gotham City’s newspapers? Here’s some highlights:
The Giants defense is decidedly of the opinion that they are better than they were when Dallas shredded them earlier in the year.
"There were some things we did last time that we understand better now," Gibril Wilson said. "We're really just looking forward to another opportunity to get out there and face the mighty Cowboys."
The mighty Cowboys? Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?
Dallas has a big-time WR with a bum ankle, and so does New York. Plaxico Burress needs to produce for the Giants.
"Hopefully I can move around a little more, play some different positions so I can get free. [The Cowboys] are always saying they're not going to let me have any big plays or go deep or anything like that. So there are always things that we can do differently to counter that."
And the Giants aren’t for one second buying the idea that T.O. won’t play.
"He will play," Tom Coughlin said. "There is no doubt in my mind he will play."
[snip]
"T.O.'s the type of guy, if they allowed him, he would probably go out there with a crutch in his hand," Tuck said. "There was a question how effective he was going to be in that Super Bowl and he answered that question, too. I'm expecting him to be 100%."
We know that Jeremy Shockey has owned Roy Williams, but can his sub follow the same plan.
"The game plan will be relatively the same, so far," Boss said on Wednesday. "We used Jeremy split out a lot against (Cowboys safety) Roy Williams. We've got a lot of that same stuff in."
Giants injury report:
C Shaun O'Hara (knee) inched a little closer to being available Sunday when he participated in individual drills at practice yesterday....CB Sam Madison (stomach), WR Plaxico Burress (ankle), CB Kevin Dockery (hip) and RT Kareem McKenzie (ankle) did not practice....LB Kawika Mitchell (knee) said he feels "pretty good." He's practicing with a brace on his knee, but he's hoping not to use it on Sunday. "It's uncomfortable and I would like to play without it," he said.
On another topic, Captain Caveman shaved his ‘stache. I think he should go all the way and transform from Captain Caveman to Mr. Clean.
