Cowboys shrug off controversy, beat Giants 20-8

Cowboys 20 - Giants 8

Hallelujah! Texas Stadium turned into Fantasy Island with Ricardo Montalban proclaiming "Smiles everyone, smiles."  And smile they did, Tony Romo, Terrell Owens, Jason Witten, and the rest of the crew were having a jolly time on the sidelines and all the controversy of the last week was brushed aside.

Credit a huge effort from the suddenly dominate Cowboys defense which sacked Eli Manning eight times on the night, led by DeMarcus Ware's three. While the Cowboys were smiling the famous Eli-face returned as the Giants offense was a total dud.

Tony Romo showed incredible guts as he was getting knocked around pretty good by the Giants defense early and played most of the game with a sore back from a knee. But he played through the pain and didn't turn the ball over. My biggest point with Romo has always been ball security and this game proved that even when the offense isn't totally clicking, if you don't turn the ball over you can still win. Tashard Choice produced a second consecutive excellent game and has given the Cowboys a 1-2 punch at running back for the playoff push even with the absence of Felix Jones.

Terence Newman had a great game with two interceptions and smothered Domenik Hixon on much of the night and helped the Cowboys front line accrue the sacks needed to stifle the Giants offense.

The picture of the night? T.O., Jason Witten and Tony Romo all hanging on the sideline joking and joshing, probably plotting the demise of Ed Werder. T.O. even took a shot at Werder in the post-game interview which consisted of, of course, Romo, Witten and Owens.

Celebrate good times my Cowboys brethren. We are still in the mix for the playoffs and with the defense playing the way it is anything is possible.
