No surprise here, but Keith Davis has agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins. He joins Julius Jones and Jacques Reeves as free-agents the Cowboys were willing to let go based on past productivity and the costs involved in this year’s free-agent market. This hurts us some on special teams, Davis’ strong-suit, but in Miami he is going to get a chance to compete at real playing time at safety.
The article talks about Davis and his career in the NFL, but the crazy part - something we know all about but Dolphins’ fans are probably just hearing about - is Davis’ history of attracting bullets.
Davis, a Texas native, has a strange history of getting shot. He missed the entire 2003 season after suffering a gunshot wound to his hip and elbow while waiting to pick up a friend at a topless club. Then-Cowboys coach Bill Parcells released Davis, but re-signed him a year later after he excelled during a stint with the Berlin Thunder of the now defunct NFL Europe league.
Davis was also shot in the head and thigh while driving down a Dallas highway in July 2006 as he was returning from a family vacation. The police described it as an attempted carjacking. None of the wounds were considered serious.
