Jason Garrett wins award; Cowboys reading material

Just a quick update with some reading material since the news for the Cowboys is very, very quiet.

But first, Jason Garrett picked up an award for the top assistant coach in the NFL last year.

Former Ravens coach Brian Billick presented the league's Pro Football Weekly Assistant Coach of the Year award to Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who had been heavily rumored to be Billick's replacement. The award is voted on by members of the Pro Football Writers Association.

My guess is this was voted on before the playoffs. If they had to do it all over again including the Super Bowl, I don’t see how Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo wouldn’t be the choice.

JJT takes a very generic look at the Cowboys draft needs.

ESPN does the same.

Mickey Spags is all about the cornerback in the draft. I have to agree with Mick on this one.

Nick Eatman surveys the inside linebackers. Who’s the odd-man out, Akin Ayodele or Bobby Carpenter?
