The Rocky Mountain News and NFL.com's Adam Schefter both reported today that Patriots OC Josh McDaniel received a second interview with the Broncos late last week, making him the only candidate to get a second look.
The News claims the Broncos may be prepared to "ease up a bit" before making an announcement. If they are certain their guy is not Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo, they may move quickly in the next couple of days. Any delay lets other clubs deplete the current pool of coordinators and position coaches.
The Detroit Lions may also hire quickly. Titans DC Jim Schwartz was rumored to be one of the Lions favorites, along with Cowboys OC Jason Garrett. Schwartz' Titans were knocked out of the playoffs by Baltimore today, though the Tennessee defense played very well.
Cowboys Castoffs Still Alive
Arizona OC Todd Haley gets notice because he was Dallas' WR coach under Bill Parcells and sparred verbally with T.O. two years ago. Cards DC Clancy Pendergast also has deep Cowboys roots. He was an assistant from the Switzer through the Campo years and followed Dave Campo to Cleveland in '03. Pendergast there served as former Cowboys' DC Butch Davis' linebackers coach.
