Through Week 5, 13 NFL teams have at least a share of first place in their respective divisions - the most in NFL history at this point in the season. As the NFL enters Week 6, there are 20 teams with a .500 or better record. That’s tied for the most such teams through the first five weeks of a season in NFL history (2001).
Parity is the flavor of the month in the NFL. Unfortunately, it's not the evenly-matched, high-quality type of parity. Instead it's a parity born of mediocrity. Some teams have already had their dysfunctional period, other teams are sure to follow. The BTB panel this week believes the Cowboys will leave their troubles behind. Their time has come to shine.
The results for last week's pick 'em were uneven at best. Of the seven unanimous BTB writers picks for last weekend, only two actually won, and most of the panelists got hammered in their picks accordingly. This week we have only four unanimous picks (Giants, Bears, Falcons and Steelers), and four other games where we have only one panelist dissenting from the consensus opinion. We'll see how that works out.
