Cowboys Promote Bryan McCann; Replaces Released Jason Williams On 53-Man Roster

Earlier this week the Cowboys cleared space on the 53-man roster by releasing Jason Williams. Part of the reason was Williams was a bust, the other part was they needed help in the secondary. Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is out with a high-ankle sprain, and Terence Newman is hobbled with rib injuries. The Cowboys hope Newman will play, but with the AOA injury and the question mark with T-New, the Cowboys had to get another corner on the active roster.

Today Dallas called up Bryan McCann. For the record, while attending training camp this year I was impressed with McCann. He was constantly around the ball and grabbed quite a few interceptions. He also can do some work on special teams. I was surprised when he was among the final cuts the Cowboys made. I thought at the time he'd done enough to make the team. I also remember thinking the Cowboys were sure going short with cornerbacks. McCann caught on with Baltimore for a week before coming back to the Cowboys practice squad.

That's the past, now is the present. Welcome to the 53-man roster, Bryan McCann.
