The NFL sent out a notice on the leading vote-getters for the Pro Bowl. On the NFC side, as expected, no Dallas Cowboys player made the list. So let's make an effort to get a few guys on the team. Sure, they've disappointed us this year, we all expected the season to go much differently. No doubt about that. The Jason Garrett-led Dallas Cowboys are a different story. These guys have us back in the action, and thinking about winning each week instead of about what will inevitably go wrong as we did at the end of the Wade Phillips regime. So let's show the players a little love.
Jason Witten is first among NFL tight ends with 65 catches. Even when you throw wide receivers into the mix, Witten is still the 8th leading receiver in the NFL. He's second to Antonio Gates in yards with 702. Along with four touchdowns and his steady blocking and versatility, Witten is surely Pro Bowl worthy, and worthy of starting.
Mat McBriar is still leading the league in net punt average at 42.8 yards, that's a full two yards more than the next closest guy. He also is number one in the NFC in average punt yards (48.2) and you can't blame the blocked punt on Sunday on anything he did. Jesse Holley just whiffed on the protection. Why Ben Graham of the Cardinals is leading the voting is a mystery.
And while you're over there voting, drop one in the bucket for DeMarcus Ware. He's 6th in the league in sacks (9.5) and second in the NFC behind Clay Matthews.
