Mocking the Cowboys Draft: Ten Weeks To Go

It's the Mock Draft.

Love 'em or hate 'em, we just can't resist them. We know they mean absolutely nothing, and that the guys making the mocks have about as much insight into who the Cowboys will draft as we do. Still, once the season is over - we like free-agency, but we love the draft.

Every week from now until draft weekend we'll summarize the latest mock drafts out there. We'll provide choice quotes on which players some mock drafts like as our No. 1 pick, and provide an overview of all draftniks that have published a mock draft of at least three rounds.

So without further ado, let's take a spin around the Cowboys mock draft world.

Drafttek.com - 2/10/2010

Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland. The Terrapin Tackle (try saying that 3 times real fast) is a workout warrior and will probably grade well at the Combine; nevertheless, if he keeps his weight (and big contract) under control, the Cowboys may have a replacement for Flozell Adams.

Draftzoo.com - 2/10/2010

Terrence Cody, NT Alabama. After a year in which their starters at the two safety spots played better than expected, I think they can afford to wait instead of reaching [for a safety] here. Terrence Cody would allow the Boys to move Jay Ratliff back outside to 5-tech, his more natural position. Cody is probably overrated, and he stands up a lot, but he has the most important quality a prospect can have in Jones’ eyes — a big name.

Rob Rang, CBS Sports - 2/4/2010

Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland: The Cowboys haven't spent a first-round pick on the offensive line since 1989, but may elect to do so with valued backups Montrae Holland and Cory Procter potentially entering free agency. Campbell is still raw as he left the Terps with only 17 career starts, but is a phenomenal athlete whose best football is ahead of him. He could step in immediately at guard before eventually taking over for Flozell Adams.

Chad Reuter, CBS Sports - 2/4/2010

Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri: Veteran Keith Brooking brought some intensity to the Cowboys defense, and Weatherspoon is a similar player with better athleticism. The former Tiger's performance in the Senior Bowl may have earned him a spot in the first round.

ProFootballWeekly.com - 1/30/2010

Earl Thomas, FS, Texas. The inability to cover the deep middle exposed the Cowboys' defense against the Vikings in the playoffs, and Thomas' range and playmaking ability on the back half could complete the defense.

Don Banks, SI.com - 1/29/2010

Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho. The Cowboys offensive line needs help in light of its playoff-game meltdown at Minnesota, and Iupati is a prospect who really helped himself with his showing in this week's Senior Bowl practices. He has good feet and plays with a mean streak. Another intriguing possibility that can't be overlooked for Dallas is if USC safety Taylor Mays tumbles to No. 27. But the offensive line should take priority.
