Generally, I like bye weeks coming in the middle of the season. The team is more tired at that point, and they usually have more injuries piled up that need time to heal. But this year, I think the bye week is coming at a good time. Normally, I would want to ride the momentum of a big win like the victory over Houston on Sunday. But with the chaotic and angst-filled start this team has had, and the re-do injury to Kyle Kosier's knee (among other players with minor injuries), I'm thinking the bye week is actually coming at a good time.
Getting Kosier healthy is key, Montrae Holland filled-in admirably in the Redskins game, but I'm not sure I trust him for an extended run at LG. Better to get Kosier fully-healed for the rest of the season and an extra week from the bye will help. The Cowboys line, which was one of the biggest question marks going into the season, has performed well. Not as well in run-blocking as pass-protection, but overall - except for Alex Barron's Week 1 - they haven't been the problem. Well, some crucial penalties from that group have hurt, but their play has been strong. So rest Kosier this week, and next week if needed, because we need him for the rest of the year.
Injury report after the jump...
Jason Witten has also had a tough run recently with a concussion and a knee injury. He's another guy who could use a stretch of healing time. And don't forget Dez Bryant, who has the rib problem and picked up a hip issue in the Texans game. Both those guys are expected to play when we meet up with Tennessee in a week.
Here's the brief rundown of injuries at this point, for more extensive reading visit the mothership.
Jason Witten - Being held out of practice with knee injury, expected to play next week.
Kyle Kosier - Being held out of practice with knee injury, unknown if he'll play next week.
Dez Bryant - Being held out of practice with rib and hip injuries, expected to play next week.
Marc Colombo - Being held out of practice just as a precaution, no new injury.
Mike Jenkins - Limited in practice with knee injury, expected to play next week.
Sean Lee, Sam Young - Both back at practice.
