Dallas Cowboys Tidbits: Monday Brunch Under The Coaching Tree

The eyes of a man who will not be rushed into any rash decisions on his employees.
The eyes of a man who will not be rushed into any rash decisions on his employees.

Let's all grab our ladies, have her put together a picnic basket and her favorite Cowboys blanket and sit down to enjoy some leisurely Cowboys tidbits.

  • With the conclusion of the College Bowl season, we are now firmly in evaluation mode for those players worthy of joining the ranks of the professional football players. The Cowboys staff is headed down to Alabama to start doing some scouting for the Senior Bowl.  nbcdfw.com reports:

The Dallas Cowboys’ representatives present include offensive line coach Hudson Houck, running backs coach Skip Peete, special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis and kickers coach Chris Boniol.

Gerry Fraley of DMN.com seems to think this means all of these coaches are scheduled to return to the team in 2011.

So if that's the case, and these coaches are all set to return next season, what are your expectations for the offense? Does it bother you that Rob Ryan's name isn't on the list of those heading down to the week of practice?

More to follow:

  • With the Super Bowl combatants now finalized, coaches from 30 of the league's 32 teams are now available if their contracts expired in 2010. Here's a look at the coaching staffs for the two teams recently eliminated, the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets:

Chicago Bears New York Jets

Brian Schottenheimer is already feeling some heat from the New York media after yesterday's loss. With most of the coaching staffs around the league completed already, anyone that is removed from their position or has a contract that has expired could be a candidate to join Dallas. You can easily envision a one-year rent of somebody that would rather work than be out of the league for a year. Anybody catch your eye?

Starting with the East-West Shrine Game this weekend, and next week's Senior Bowl, the Cowboys' postseason preparation for each choice has already begun. Though scouts for the team were on the road throughout the fall attempting to correctly evaluate all of the available talent, most of the outside focus will be on the first round...

"It's a big pick for us anytime you're picking up that high in the top 10 or 12 players," Jones said. "We've been very fortunate to come out of there with some great players - a Greg Ellis, a DeMarcus Ware, Terence Newman. Obviously we've had some success picking up there high, and we certainly want to repeat that."
