2011 Super Bowl: The Saturday Roundup

Michael Irvin - Crispy and Clean
Michael Irvin - Crispy and Clean

The 2011 Super Bowl, to be played at our home, Cowboys Stadium, is almost upon us. One more day and the Pittsburgh Steelers will clash with Green Bay Packers to see who is the professional football champion of the world and get to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Here's some Saturday reading and viewing links.

-- Cowboys Connection, Michael Irvin: My friend Michael Bean, who runs the most-excellent Steelers site - SB Nation's own Behind The Steel Curtain - is at the Super Bowl in Dallas, and was fascinated by Radio Row, and the routines of Michael Irvin. Now, Michael Bean is truly a friend of mine, so if you visit BTSC, please be civil, even though most of us are likely rooting against Pittsburgh. He noted that Michael Irvin was working Radio Row at the Super Bowl, and he was grooming himself constantly, using an electric razor three times within an hour. Then he met up with Irvin's producer and interviewed him about  it. The producer said Irvin liked to keep it "crispy and clean" for his TV gig.

-- Maurkice Pouncey Out: In a blow to the Steelers, but one that everybody pretty much figured was coming, center Maurkice Pouncey is officially ruled out for the game. Tough break, that rookie was having a very good year.

-- 2011 Super Bowl Atmosphere: Joel Thorman, another SB Nation friend of mine, is covering the Super Bowl for our Super Bowl hub, and gives you a flavor of what's going on in Dallas, along with plenty of pictures.

-- Packers View: I'm rooting for the Packers, and so is everybody at SB Nation's Packers site, Acme Packing Company. Jump on over there for a Packers view of things.

-- Deion's Day: Tonight, at around 7 PM EST, it's expected that Deion Sanders will be named to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame, with the induction ceremony coming in August. Calvin Watkins goes deep into Deion in this article, in anticipation of the expected announcement. Charles Haley is also up for the honor.

After the jump is the official injury report for the Steelers and Packers...
