Dallas Cowboys Tidbits: Pro Day, CBA and Cowboy Links For Breakfast

-- I'm not sure the credibility of his sources, but "Long Ball" over at Draftek.com has an interesting tidbit in their latest mock draft. Drafttek predicts that Dallas will select OT Tyron Smith. He says two sources have said that Dallas has requested more film on Smith from USC than any other team. Obviously those sources would be representative of the players' interests, and an association with Dallas at #9 wouldn't exactly hurt Smith's prospects with other teams. By the way, the mock has us passing on Nick Fairley and Robert Quinn.

-- Wes Bunting echoed the sentiment on Smith yesterday: "Hearing that once USC OT Tyron Smith works out for NFL teams, teams would be shocked if he feel outside the top - 10...Redskins? Cowboys?"

-- Pro Day's are moving fast and furious. "The U" pro day was rained out as it was in it's early stages, and has been rescheduled for March 25th. I can't find any info saying that Brandon Harris participated in any drills before they blew the whistle. Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara didn't run in Lincoln. Draftinsider.net does a great job recapping some of the pro days with the following pieces.

Clemson, Kentucky, Nebraska, Miami, Indiana, Texas Tech

Alabama, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, Kent State

Auburn, Arkansas, Northwestern

-- Walterfootball.com chimes in with their pro day analysis. After you follow the link, scroll down some to get to the 2011 updates. Not sure why the page is set up like that but, ok. All of the schools listed above are covered, plus Texas A&M, Colorado, Oregon, California, Wyoming, Utah State, Portland State, Alabama AM and some others. If you have any pet cats coming out of these universities you can catch a tidbit or two here.

-- The extension placed on the CBA extensions is set to expire today at 5pm eastern. Will there be a deal done? The National Football Post's Andrew Brandt doesn't seem so sure, with this article recapping the events through last night. Msnfoxsports.com has a timeline of yesterday's CBA events, including a transcript of DeMaurice Smith's press statement. It will be interesting to see if they have a deal done by the deadline. My money is on another extension, and possibly another, and another... Adam Schefter tweeted late last night that someone involved in the talks expects things to "blow up" today. Uh-oh. If no deal is made, the impact on the American economy will be right around the corner. In yesterday's news wrap-up, I brought up how a potential lockout could affect workers and business nationwide. DMN has a story today on the impact a lockout could have locally, in Arlington.

-- Remember last month when BTB broke the story about Brian Baker becoming the new defensive line coach? Well it seems that highly regarded recruit Delvon Simmons should have been a reader. DMN reports that the delay in the announcement after word had leaked was because Baker was trying to complete the recruitment of Simmons as if he (Baker) would still be his primary coach. Simmons is now asking for a release to his commitment so he can go to another school. Another black eye for former Cowboys Defensive Coordinator and UNC head man Butch Davis.

-- The Mothership's rundown series takes a look at Marcus Spears. Bob Sturm of DMN continues his player analysis with another of our defensive ends, Jason Hatcher.
