Almost the entire NFL labor committee - minus only Bob Kraft, who's on a business trip abroad - joined the meeting in D.C. today, the last day of negotiations before the expiration of the current CBA and the deadline for decertification. The NFLPA also showed up with its biggest contingent yet in what Daniel Kaplan of the Sport Business Journal describes as a "Massive union contingent ... Largest i have seen. Must be at least two dozen."
Kaplan also reported via twitter that as Jerry Jones was walking into the FMCS building at 21st and K in Washington D.C, he let this little quote slip: "Hopefully we will have something for you in an hour or two."
An update is expected during the course of the day, latest at 2:00 pm ET. DeMaurice Smith tweeted yesterday that players could expect an update by then, and that they should "stay strong".
Right now, it's anybody's guess what will happen today, while we remain feeling like Kremlinologists, trying to decode meaning from the facial expressions of people entering the FMCS building.
Oh, I forgot to mention, Jeffrey Kessler, described as the "divisive" outside counsel for the NFLPA, was reported to be "smiling broadly" as he entered the building.
