2011 NFL Lockout: The NFL Players Association Has Decertified

ESPN, among others, is reporting that the NFL Players Association has decertified the union before the 5 PM EST deadline today. This mean the players can now sue the NFL in Judge David Doty's court and try to get a ruling that the NFL owners can't lockout the players. This is bad news for everybody concerned. The players association wanted 10 years of financial information that had been audited by an outside source for any kind of extension, apparently the NFL wasn't willing to do that.

It's no longer a negotiation, it's now in the courts. This could get very ugly. The owners will likely move to lockout the players very soon, then some of the individual players will sue to stop the lockout. We expect news conferences from the principal parties involved very sson. Maybe those will shed some light as to what will happen next and how soon that will happen.

We'll have more as it develops.
