SB Nation NFL Mock Draft (Update): Patrick Peterson To Cowboys

Patrick Peterson to the Cowboys?
Patrick Peterson to the Cowboys?

It's Monday, and that means SB Nation has released its latest 2011 NFL mock draft. This time, the mock projects five trades in Round 1, and it comes as no surprise that the Dallas Cowboys figure prominently.

SB Nation's Brian Galliford and Dan Kadar of Mocking The Draft predict the Cowboys will trade up to get the Cardinals' No. 5 overall pick:

Make the jump for details...

Projected Trade
ARI gets: No. 9 overall, No. 40 overall (second round)
DAL gets: No. 5 overall, 2012 third-round pick

With the 5th pick in the 2011 draft, the Dallas Cowboys take Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU. Galliford further writes:

Peterson is a guy that Jerry Jones would go up (relatively cheaply) to get. He's a perfect fit for Dallas. Arizona, meanwhile, can slide down, pick up another pick this year, and continue their re-build with more bodies at better value - even if they lose a third next season.

Patrick Peterson is without a doubt the best athlete in this year’s draft. Many draft experts see him as the best player in the 2011 draft. Period. Peterson is also reported to be the number one player on the Cowboys draft board. To have a chance at Peterson, the Cowboys must jump ahead of the 49ers.

Peterson would certainly qualify as the splash move that Jerry Jones likes so much, but is Peterson worth moving up for or is the price too steep?
