Lockout Still On: Appellate Court Rules In Favor Of Owners

The 8th Circuit Court has ruled that the NFL lockout will remain in effect until they rule on the actual legality of the lockout. Today they granted a stay to the owners on the lower court's decision lifting the lockout. June 3rd is now the next big date in the fight between the NFL owners and players.

The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday decided that the league's lockout of players should stay in place until a full appeal is heard on whether it is legal, which means until at least the first week of June and possibly much longer.

"In sum, we have serious doubts that the district court had jurisdiction to enjoin the league's lockout, and accordingly conclude that the league has made a strong showing that it is likely to succeed on the merits," the majority wrote.

Nothing will get done until the June date, even though the owners and players continue mediation. They were meeting today.

Let the nightmare continue.
