BREAKING: Teams Can Sign Own Players Today, Unrestricted Players Tomorrow

Watching Mike and Mike on ESPN for the first time in months, and they just had breaking news from Adam Schefter. These are breaking reports, so things can change quickly, but this is the latest update. .

Contracts can't get (officially) signed until there is a union, which won't happen until the weekend. No word on the specific makeup of the cap, the soft cap specifically, which would allow teams to go over the projected $120 million number.

-- The new league year starts August 2nd, next Tuesday.

-- Teams can sign there own free agents today, July 25th, at 4pm eastern.

-- Teams can start talking to unrestricted free agents today.

-- Teams can sign unrestricted free agents starting tomorrow, July 26th, at noon, contracts would not go into effect until August 2nd.

-- Teams can talk trades this afternoon, would become official on Saturday.

-- Players will report to teams on staggered schedule. 10 teams Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with Jets and Texans report on Sunday. 14 days before every team has their first preseason game.
