Cowboys And NFC East Quick Hits: July 27th, 2011

We've been cranking out stories here at BTB like madmen, as the condensed offseason is keeping every one on their toes. All topics can't be covered, but that doesn't mean that the rabid fan doesn't foam at the mouth for all news Dallas. Here's a quick look at some stories you might enjoy. We'll first look at Cowboys news, including some things that may have slipped under your radar. After the jump you can catch up on what the rivals of the NFC East have been up to. After all, winning the East is the quickest way back to the playoffs, and you have to know your competition and how you stack up to them.

-- C Andre Gurode had offseason knee surgery, and is starting camp on the physically unable to perform list. He is currently running and working his way back into shape. [Star Telegram]

NY Giants

-- The Giants cleaned house on their offensive line, releasing C Shaun O'Hara, G Rich Seubert and LT Stacey Andrews. They began the rebuild by signing former 49er Dave Baas [ESPN]

-- The signing of UDFA LB Mark Herzlich allows his cancer survival story to make the rounds. [San Antonio Express]

Philadelphia Eagles

-- The Eagles are still trying to trade Kevin Kolb to the Cardinals for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a draft pick. Not sure is DRC is a threat as a #1 corner, but he could be tough as a #2. [BGN]

-- The team is working out a big money long term extension with QB Michael Vick [Fox Sports]

-- The Eagles have signed all of their draft picks except for first rounder Danny Watkins [EaglesInsider]

-- DeSean Jackson hasn't reported to camp, and isn't expected, as he looks for a better deal. [Philly Sports Daily]

-- The Eagles, who didn't have nearly the turnout the Cowboys did for their player led workouts, have to wonder who's been doing their job despite the lockout. [Team website]

-- The team signed speedy RB Noel Devine [National Football Post]

Washington Redskins

-- The team has worked out a trade of Donovan McNabb to the Vikings for two sixth rounders. That fleecing would have been so golden if it wasn't the Eagles that benefited. McNabb has to rework his contract for the deal to finalize. [Hogs Haven] Unimpressed, Sidney Rice bolted Minny.

-- The Skins signed DL Barry Cofield away from the Giants, six years, $36 million. [AP via]
