News made the rounds today of additional players that have been released. We've tried to keep a level head about the positions of weakness on the Dallas roster, trying to have faith that either the team will address them with savvy moves, or in-house players step up to the plate. The Cowboys have holes remaining at numerous positions, and need to address them in a hurry as we are less than two weeks from facing the Broncos. Ha! It is so awesome to type that out.
In addition to the nine cuts we recapped earlier (Colombo, Davis, Barber, Williams, Bright, Brewster, Smith, Brown and Bergeron) the Cowboys also let go a couple undrafted free agents (S Taplin-Ross and DE Tonga) that weren't able to pass their physicals. The Cowboys weren't alone in their announcements, all NFL cuts became official at 4:01 PM ET today, and with that, plenty of fresh meat just hit the freezer at the NFL deli. Follow the jump to see who has a new price tag in Cowboys areas of need.

Guards (for all those worried about Montrae Holland's rough Day 1 of camp): Brian Waters (KC), Cooper Carlisle (OAK), Justin Smiley (JAC)
Defensive End: Marcus Stroud (NE)
Safety: Madieu Williams (MIN)
Cornerback: Chris Johnson (OAK), Randall Gay (NO), Nate Clements (SF)

There are still players available who were known free agents, capable of helping the Cowboys, that have been covered in other posts. Feel free to add the above names to the list of candidates that may make their way to San Antonio. Should there be any interest?
