Cowboys 2012 Free Agency: Day 1 Wrap-Up Open Thread

Free agency is underway, and although the Cowboys haven't signed anybody yet, they are active.

Later tonight, we'll have a non-free agency post from the esteemed Coty Saxman, so be sure to visit that post and take a quick break from free agency, and we'll get back to it again tomorrow.

Use this as another open thread to discuss the days events.

-- CB Brandon Carr is visiting the Cowboys tonight, hopefully Jerry and Co. will be able to close out that deal before Carr leaves. In a related note, the other big-name cornerback free agent, Cortland Finnegan, reportedly has a deal in place with the Rams for five years and roughly $50 million. You can use that as a benchmark for a Carr deal.

-- Other players expected to visit Dallas include ILB Dan Connor, who I think would be a very good signing for the right price. TE Kellen Davis is a big, athletic player who could help in the blocking scheme. And QB Kyle Orton will investigate the possibility of being Tony Romo's backup.

-- On the negative side, WR Laurent Robinson is getting a lot of interest around the league, and may just end up out of the Cowboys price range. Also, the Cowboys and Tony Fiametta couldn't reach a long-term deal, so his future in Big D is in doubt. Those guys were two important cogs in the Cowboys offense last year, but there's still hope something can get done.
